Chapter 80: A Call For Help

"Anyways, for the moment, I was thinking that…" A frown appeared on Morgan's beautiful face. "Are you listening to me?" She grabbed Harry's shoulder when he was looking out of the window.

"Sorry." Harry glanced at her. "What were you saying?"

"I was saying that, for the moment, I think it's worth keeping an eye on this Dark Lord. Now that he has the Headmaster's blood, he is likely to make a move against you soon. I have a few contacts in Knockturn Alley whom I can call."

"That sounds good." Harry looked over at the other students in the hallway.

They had all been driven out of the Great Hall after the battle was over. The chamber had become littered with werewolf corpses, so it wasn't an ideal place for the students to be while the aurors arrived.

Harry noticed the eyes of the other children present. "They are all scared of me. Of what I can do." He even saw the same thing in the other three champions.

"Of course they are scared." Morgan huffed. "They are novices and just witnessed something they have no chance of understanding. The magic they learn in here cannot come close to what you can do. I thought you understood this much."

"I suppose. It's still an unpleasant feeling…to be feared in such a way," Harry said.

Morgan raised an eyebrow. "Welcome to my world. You'll get used to it."

Harry turned his attention back to the window and continued to stare.

"What is so fascinating about the view that you would rather look out of the window than look at me?" Morgan asked.

"It is not the view that interests me…" Harry pointed at the massive forest spreading into the distance. "I can feel something in there."

"The Black Forest? From what I know, there isn't much in there. Just a tribe of centaurs, a nest of acromantulas, and a few unicorns."

"No, there is something more. It's faint, but I can feel something trying to pull me in. It's like…a call, or a plea for help," Harry said.

Morgan's demeanor changed. She had known Merlin for a very long time, and when he had a feeling like this one, it was always something important. "Go then."

"Morgan?" Harry glanced at her.

"Go to the forest. Follow that call and find out what it's about. When you get so hung up about something, its usualy worth checking." Morgan said.

"What about the authorities? I promised Mister Dumbledore that we would speak with them and clear things up properly this time," Harry said.

"Leave the aurors to me. I will speak with them," Morgan told him.

Harry threw her a dubious look. "Try to be polite, please." They had enough enemies. There was no need to antagonize the Ministry unless they gave them a reason to do so.

Morgan simply responded to his comment with a pout.

Harry jumped onto the window frame, produced his wand, and transfigured it into a wooden board before stepping on it.

The board floated in the air with him on top and separated from the window. "I'll be back soon."

He flew above the Black Forest while trying to locate the source of the call.

It was very dark, so he could not see much past the thick canopy of the trees. Not being able to rely on his eyes, Harry had to focus completely on his senses.

Suddenly, the sensation began to intensify, and he slowed down. "Is it there?" He flew a bit lower and spotted a large pond in the middle of the forest.

"Let's take a closer look." Harry descended onto the ground and stood at the shore of the pond, looking at its dark waters.

The sensation was much stronger now. "It has to be he—"

"Merlin…help…"

A soft female voice entered his ears. It sounded very feeble, but he was sure he had heard someone calling his name.

"Who is this?" he asked. "Can you show yourself?"

The only response was a whisper that he could not understand. "I'll take that as a no."

Whoever was calling for him was inside this pond but too weak to come out or communicate properly. They must have exhausted whatever energy they had left just to lure him there.

"Annwn," Harry called for his staff.

He then knelt down on the grassy floor and planted the tip of the staff next to the waters.

It began to glow with a gentle blue light. Waves of magic burst out of the staff and traveled across the pond, creating a small disturbance on its surface.

Harry closed his eyes and tried to establish a connection with the natural energies of the forest before channeling them back into the pond.

The waters started to glow with the same blue light as the staff's crystal.

"Thank you, Merlin. I feel much better now." The voice was much stronger now and could clearly be heard.

Harry retracted his staff from the waters. "This voice…" It was familiar and ancient at the same time. "So you are still alive, my Lady."

Bubbles appeared around the center of the pond, and moments later, something emerged from its dark waters.

The humanoid figure of a female. Clearly not truly human, just holding a human shape. Her body appeared to be made of water itself, and she was covered in a dress made of algae.

She looked at him and smiled. "Merlin, it is you. I could feel your presence close by. But I had difficulty…communicating."

Harry knelt at the shore of the pond. "Lady of the Lake. This Merlin greets you."
