Chapter 3 - Chapter Three: Calix

After her little show Mirelha felt tapped out. And when she opened her eyes all she saw was blue light and a mysterious figure fading in the background. Her mind immediately went to the handsome stranger that brought her here but this figure looked more beastly she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her and there's no way someone would actually have horns sprouting from their head so she squinted trying to see further but her body was so weak she couldn't make out anything before her consciousness slowly began to wane and she finally blacked out.

⚔️⚔️⚔️

Among the whispering trees a lone figure could be spotted trudging through towards the only building in sight. A lone tall architecture shaped like a fairytale castle. It was barricaded with enormous walls as if to keep something from coming in. And on the peaks stood three stone sculptures, the left had a sea dragon wrapped around the top and the right an airborne dragon with wings as wide as your fist. And in the middle stood a majestic black Phoenix.

"Tch, I thought we weren't allowed to have visitors?" A voice sounded from the top of one of the walls as the figure drew closer.

But that question just hung in the air as the figure walked pass without offering an answer his body protectively shielding the frail figure in his arms like she could turn to dust if exposed to the harsh winds that blew.

"Didn't you hear me" the voice from earlier rang out this time successfully blocking his pathway as he entered the castle

"This is not the time for your stupid questions Rune" he spoke through clenched teeth "get out of my way"

He began to make his way around trying not to ruffle the still unconscious figure laying in his arms but Rune was not having it.

"Well you can't blame me for being curious Calix." Rune answered rocking on his heels like a child full with curiosity " you finally leave the castle today only to come back with a stranger that you seem so desperate to hide from me?. If you ask me that leaves room for a lot of questions, hmm?"

"Well then it's a good thing no one asked you. Now move before I move you myself"

"Oh now no need to get feisty" Rune rose his hands in surrender before jamming them in the front pocket of his jeans. His aura considerably dropping as his voice took on a more serious tone "I already know who that is and honestly I'm surprised, proud even. You've once again proven why Espen and I keep you around" he paused a devilish smirk creeping up to his lips "now hand her over like a good little boy and I'll get out of your way or else..."

Calix had seen this coming even before he made this decision he knew his brothers would notice even the slightest change in his scent and he was prepared for it. This was his prize and they weren't going to lay even a finger on it.

"And if I refuse?" A matching smirk appeared across his lips as he rose his head to meet his brothers' eyes for the first time since he arrived. "She's mine "

"Looks like someone wants to play" Rune said excitedly half to himself "you sure you want to do this Cal-". A strong gush of wind blew across his face cutting him short and he caught sight of something from the corner of his eye. Quickly and thanks to his reflexes he dodged and the kick just brushed a strand of his hair out of place.

"I told you I'll move you myself didn't I ? You didn't think I was just bluffing did you?" Calix said as he strutted pass

"You cheating bastard" Rune hissed before returning the kick with as much fervour as it was served aiming for a surprise attack. But Calix who was already doing a countdown dodged the attack as casually as if he was blocking out the sun's rays.

"Your going to have to be more spontaneous if you want to catch me unawares. I could literally see your counter before it even landed" and with that Calix was gone from sight before Rune could conjure anymore tricks or kicks.

In his room he laid Mirelha down on his king size bed and watched as she turned to make herself comfortable, her hair sprawling across the pillows like snakes. She looked peaceful in her sleep and Calix could only wonder what she was running from that made her so nervous. She wouldn't show it or admit it but he knew. And he almost felt sorry for her, but her destiny had brought her to his doorstep. she was the missing piece he and his brothers have been waiting for and according to the prophecy only one will cross to the other side and fate had chosen him to be the one. He knew he had to be quick and perform the ritual before Espen gets back, Rune was just a pest he could deal with but Espen took a whole lot of energy to deal with and right now he didn't have enough to spare. The ritual has to be done on the next blood moon. So all he has to do is to keep her safe and well hidden from his scavenger brothers till the next blood moon. That can't be so hard right?
