Chapter 50 - Death from above

It must be said that Harkya, as an Ork Warboss from the Blood Axe Clan, was indeed quite intelligent and had a thorough understanding of the shrimp.

Unfortunately, even if he anticipated it, it was useless.

Because what Adam was about to do next was not something that could be easily defended against, even with preparation.

At this very moment, aboard the strike cruiser.

"Lord Adam, I do not believe this is a good idea. It is too dangerous."

After using Warp transmission to return to the interior of the ship in orbit, everyone listened to Adam's plan and unanimously began persuading him against it.

Adam, who was already standing in front of the Drop Pod, turned around and spoke seriously, "This plan is the result of deep consideration; the risk is minimal."

You call this minimal risk?

Upon hearing this, everyone had differing expressions.

Adam's plan was very simple.

The Void Shield can block all high-velocity projectiles, including but not limited to Lances and Macro Cannons, but its weakness is that it is ineffective against low-velocity objects.

With the protection of the Void Shield, Adam truly had no way to use a Lance directly from orbit to destroy the Ork Ancient Gargant, like in a certain CG.

But if I use a Boarding Decapitation Tactic, how will you respond?

The Lord of the Ninth Legion also did this.jpg

"I still disagree with this plan."

As an Inquisitor, Sibylla stated solemnly and matter-of-factly, "I believe the correct approach should be to allow that Astra Militarum regiment to launch an attack, completely depleting the Ork forces, and only then should you make your appearance."

"Lord Adam, you are the hope of the Imperium of Man, the Emperor's Covenant Holder. Your safety is ten thousand times more precious than the lives of these Astra Militarum soldiers... No, their value should not even be mentioned alongside yours."

"If they can die for you, then it is a worthy death, and such glory is enough for them to return to the Golden Throne."

Adam fell silent.

He glanced at the others, and as expected, Lucia and Leonardo both showed approving looks.

Clearly, they also genuinely believed this choice was correct.

"...You are being a bit too extreme."

Due to his experiences in his previous life, Adam naturally wasn't a Bleeding Heart; if necessary, he would sacrifice others without hesitation to protect himself.

However, this kind of completely unnecessary sacrifice and waste could only be described as giving Adam a small 40K shock.

One must know that even the Containment Facility had a department called the "Ethics Committee" established internally, specifically responsible for moral boundaries, reviewing whether the Containment Facility's so-called "Necessary Evils" were truly necessary.

But as for here, in this dark galaxy—ethics? Morality? What are those things? Can they be eaten?

"I remember a motto of the Inquisition: 'Some may question your right to condemn them to die, but those who know understand you have no right to let them live.'"

Adam spoke slowly, his tone calm and forceful, "I do not believe the situation has reached that point yet."

" 'There is no room for the weak-willed or the hesitant. Only through determined action and faith can humanity survive. The greatest sacrifice is acceptable; the smallest betrayal is intolerable.' "

Sibylla did not directly refute him, but instead recited another motto of the Inquisition to state her perspective.

The conduct of the man before her, whether it was granting those Excommunicated Traitors a chance for atonement or specifically distributing the extremely rare rose rosaries to every Astra Militarum soldier, gave Sibylla an indescribable feeling.

This was a clash between two different worldviews.

"Perhaps you are right."

Adam pondered for a moment but still shook his head, "However, I am not wrong either."

"In this dark galaxy, humanity often has to choose the less terrible option between two awful choices. This is not the fault of humanity; it is the fault of the evil entities residing in the Warp, it is the fault of this world."

"The current me is fully capable of forging a better outcome between two terrible choices."

"This is not just about the covenant with the Emperor; more importantly, it's because I want to do it, nothing more."

After speaking, Adam stepped forward and entered the Drop Pod.

The remaining three watched his retreating figure, speechless, also falling into contemplation.

The hatch closed, and the red light above illuminated.

Adam chose not to secure himself to the bulkhead, but simply stood still.

Communicating with the machine spirit, issuing the command, the ejection mechanism activated.

A Drop Pod, appearing extremely tiny compared to the massive strike cruiser, detached from the hull, tracing a meteor-like trajectory as it sped downwards.

Inside the Drop Pod, a bizarre sight was unfolding.

Adam remained standing steadily in place, his feet seemingly rooted, feeling neither weightlessness nor inertia, and he did not, contrary to all conventional physics, immediately smash into the ceiling and become a puddle of flesh.

Anyone with even a little common sense who saw this scene would surely gasp in astonishment.

Physics doesn't exist!

In a brief instant, the Drop Pod tore through the sky, approaching the Void Shield layer. The machine spirit immediately recognized this, and the large retro-rockets at the bottom instantly activated, bringing the speed of descent from extreme velocity to stasis.

The terrifying overload resulting from this was enough to kill any ordinary human, but Adam remained completely unharmed, treating it as nothing, his feet still firmly planted within the cabin.

Meanwhile, on the ground, Harkya, who had noticed the incoming Drop Pod due to the commotion, revealed a hint of confusion in his eyes.

Upon seeing this object, he naturally understood the shrimp's intentions.

But are they serious?

Trying to use this one Drop Pod to decapitate me, an Ork Warboss?

Who gave these shrimp the courage?

Without the slightest hesitation, Harkya roared loudly, commanding the other Greenskin Boyz to raise their barrels and fire wave after wave of artillery barrage into the sky.

Even he didn't remain idle, raising the two massive Anti-aircraft Barrels mounted on the Ork Ancient Gargant, turning them into a torrent of shell rain directed at the Drop Pod that had stalled to pass through the Void Shield.

Without any surprise, the Dreadclaw Drop Pod was instantly pulverized into dust by the combined Ork artillery fire below, its debris raining down.

But, a problem arose.

Harkya squinted his eyes.

Inside... why does it seem like there are no shrimp?

Empty?

Wait, this is bad!

BOOM—!!!

A deafening explosion erupted right next to Harkya, and the layered, vibrating sound waves spread out, nearly rupturing his eardrums.

Metal debris and fragments sprayed out, leaving the Warboss covered in blood and in a miserable state.

What's going on?

Ignoring the pain, Harkya dazedly turned his head and saw, just a few meters away, standing on the massive left shoulder of the Ancient Gargant, an ordinary-looking human shrimp holding a Golden Longsword.

The steel armor beneath his feet was currently shattered and twisted into a mess due to the massive impact.

However, despite causing such immense destruction, that shrimp was completely unharmed, without even a tear in his clothes.

He slowly raised his head, and his calm gaze met Harkya's.
