"I'm so screwed…"
Jibril stared upwards blankly, watching as the black rings above her head slowly shrink smaller.
Some parts of the lake beside Whispering Woods had a rather large hole as water rushed to fill it up. The ground in the forest below Jibril was long gone, not to mention the two slimes as well…
[Side Quest Completed. Reward obtained: 10,000 Mora, X2 Slime Condensate.]
[...What happened?] The System's voice sounded somewhat bewildered.
"I think I-... used Heavenly Strike..?"
Jibril explained as she was still processing what she did. The feeling of lingering pleasure filled her body that she had barely even realized that she had successfully started flying in the air.
[...You used Heavenly Strike to hit...] The System quickly looked over at the Quest Panel then stared down at the ground. [S-Slimes…?]
The pink-haired girl fell silent; more rather, she was also a bit embarrassed.
Originally, she just wanted to wander around the forest and look for Treasure Chest or something. Even if opening it just gives her a dull blade.
I mean… it wouldn't be impossible for her, a spear woman, to carry a sword, right…?
But how could she have expected that slimes would even launch a sneak attack on her, bullying a Twenty year old girl like her? It had jumped up so high and body slammed into her back, causing her to tense up and then… she flew.
[Jibril! what... have you done!]
"Please…I-I didn't even mean too…" The Flügel mumbled softly, her wings gently flapping behind her.
At this moment, the terrifying black ring that was above her head had now completely shrunk back all the way and returned above her head, looking exactly how it was before.
Seeing the destroyed ground below her, which offered no place to land. She had no choice but to continue floating mid-air.
"Um..."
[What..?]
"I-.. uh.. didn't hurt anyone.. did I…?"
[Can a Flügel be this kind..?]
[No, fortunately your Heavenly Strike wasn't very powerful and had only struck a very small uninhabited area.]
"Phew... t-that's good.. that's very good.."
[Your Heavenly Strike had only used 1% of your power's output.]
"Wow! I'm that strong!?"
Bonk——!
"Ugh!"
The girl's head snapped backward as she nearly lost her balance. She covered her reddened forehead and tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.
The System really is terrifying! better not provoke her in the future…
[This time… You blew up slimes today. Do you dare to blow up Celestia tomorrow?? Are you trying to get yourself stewed with mushrooms!?]
Jibril quickly shook her head.
[...Just do your quests properly, be good, and the rewards will be huge.]
[Side Quest Completed. Issued: 10,000 Mora, Mondstadt Map x1. Saved for you.]
"...That's so..."
How could 10,000 mora be enough? There's no way it's enough to cover three meals a day!
[Side Quest rewards are mostly dispensable external objects; as a Flügel, most of them these are meaningless to you.]
[Main Quest rewards are much richer~ Your former name was… Gabriela right?]
"Yes, Boss."
[System: ?]
Ignoring the girl's weird address. The system tone took on a more serious and intense tone. "Don't bother to use that name casually from now on, unless it's someone you trust. Understand… Jibril?"
"...Alright."
Someone she truly trusts? The System must surely count as one?
Wait, she's not even human... She won't even bother to give her a weapon! She's just a stubborn dog of a system!
[Host, you have some pretty good luck~ You can already accept the next quest!]
"Thanks, boss.."
[Main Quest Issued: Find and encounter the Traveler currently in Mondstadt. Time limit: 1 day.]
The Traveler?
Jibril gently fluttered her wings. Having already gotten used to her wings. She quickly flew away from the scorched land and entered the still lush and green part of the forest.
I wonder who the MC of the world is? Lumine or Aether?
Tsk... that trashy Lumine.
Aether Bro... maybe we can be siblings too?
Whatever, anyways, I originally had a main account and an alt account. They're both equally important either way. No matter who it is, I'll make sure they'll never be able to return!
Hmph~ and this is the Main Quest? Man is this going to be easy!
[Another Main Quest Added: Make the Traveler your Master. Time limit: 100 days.]
[Warning! Warning! Failure to do so will result in a severe punishment!]
"Huh!?"
Jibril hit a tree with a loud thud.
The impact had caused the tree trunk to make an ear-splitting snap. Some bark flew and wood chips had scattered around.
The century old tree had heroically sacrificed itself and the deafening crash it made as it hit the ground spooked a flock of birds.
Amidst the dust, the pink-haired girl was seen lying down spread-eagled in the crash sight. Her wings extended and spread open.
She quickly lifted her upper body and then blinked. She slowly then laid back down, elegantly smoothing out her messy hair.
"I'll just lay down for a little while..."
Meanwhile, somewhere else.
"Whoa!" Paimon trembled all over, startled by the loud noise. She grabbed her slipping little crown and quickly went to hide behind Lumine.
"T-Traveler... did you hear that? It sounded like there's been another..."
Lumine quickly reassured Paimon twice as she tightened her grip on her weapon. She looked in the direction of where the sound came from.
The dense sea of trees had blocked the view. But the trembling of the ground, the scattering flock of birds, and the faint sound of breaking wood clearly suggested that—
That where the noise came from was not that far from them. If anything, it was much closer than the last time.
Fortunately, the scale of this incident didn't seem large; it quickly quieted down after only a brief shake.
"Paimon, that explosion from earlier, do you think It..."
"What is it, Traveler?"
Lumine lightly rubbed her chest, her brows furrowed. "Could It... be related to the God I'm searching for..?"
"Are you talking about..." Paimon's voice suddenly grew quieter. "The one who took your brother?"
Lumine nodded silently.
Paimon subconsciously cupped her chin as she thought. But only to realize she had floated too far from Lumine and quickly flew back behind Lumine to hide.
"Paimon... isn't sure, but It looks really dangerous! Traveler, your power..." Paimon looked at Lumine worriedly.
Lumine raised her left hand, and several wisps of breeze gathered and spun at her fingertips, then quietly dissipated into the air.
It's not enough... far from enough... "We should... hide from It." Paimon suddenly had a flash of inspiration. "Mondstadt is the nation of the Anemo God! The Anemo God will definitely strike back hard against this kind of bad guy who just casually destroys a part of the forest! We just need to find a way to meet the God of Anemo!"
Lumine slowly lowered the sword in her hand. She took one last look in the direction where a rather large tree had just fallen.
The birds in the forest had then returned to their nests. Almost as if the commotion just now had never happened.
She sighed softly. "Alright… then let's head into the city first."
"Okay!"
"Why don't you guys take me along with you?"
"Ahhh!"
"Waaahhhhh!!!"
Lumine immediately shielded Paimon behind her. Her right hand was already gripping the dull blade.
However, before she was even able to use her sword, she heard a snap—the weapon in her hand had been broken.
"Y-You... you..."
The blonde Traveler was too shocked to speak.
Not because of the sudden appearance of the other party, nor because of the inexplicably broken weapon, but because—
Of her.. the girl was flying before her eyes, or was she a God?
Even many years later, Lumine would still remember that afternoon.
Remembering the dappled light filtering through the leaves, remembering her soft fluffy wings, her gold like eyes, remembering the pure, flawless face in the sunlight, like a God about to lean down and kiss her forehead.
And her name, Gabriela, or rather now Jibril.
