Chapter 124 - 124: The Power of the Vampire Fruit

Lloyd was thoroughly satisfied with his second Devil Fruit, as it granted him abilities far beyond his expectations.

One power that immediately intrigued him was ultrasound. As a branch of the Bat Fruit, the Vampire Fruit not only possessed the unique traits of a Mythical Zoan but also inherited the natural abilities of bats. Most notably, bats were renowned for their exceptional hearing and innate ability to emit ultrasound.

For a powerhouse like Lloyd, these abilities were further amplified. He considered the example of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit: Enel could use radio waves to extend the reach of his Observation Haki across the entire Sky Island. Lloyd could now accomplish the same with ultrasound, potentially even more efficiently. After all, Enel's raw strength was incomparable to Lloyd's.

Ultrasound was not just a tool for perception; it could also be a devastating weapon, capable of wreaking havoc on both living beings and solid matter. This alone made the ability worth cultivating to its fullest potential.

Yet the most astonishing feature of the Vampire Fruit was its ability to grant eternal life through the consumption of blood. Of course, there were conditions. The user could not court death, nor could all life on the planet vanish. Truly, the prerequisites were incredibly stringent.

With the Vampire Fruit, Lloyd's skin had become exceptionally fair, glimmering in the sunlight, a visible testament to his renewed vitality. Even without activating any special powers, his strength and speed had increased dramatically.

Lloyd could not understand why great warriors like Garp and Roger had little interest in Devil Fruits. Perhaps Paramecia fruits seemed incompatible with masters of Haki or swordsmanship, and the risk of a "bad fruit" was daunting. But Zoan types were different — versatile, tangible, and practical. A powerful Zoan should have been irresistible.

As for the supposed weakness to the sea, history showed that top-tier Devil Fruit users rarely suffered setbacks from water beyond brief unconsciousness. And if a fighter was already defeated to that point, what did the sea matter? The enhancements Zoan users gained were real, measurable, undeniable.

There was only one truth: the original authors had simply decided these legendary figures could not, would not eat Devil Fruits. But Lloyd could — and he intended to. At the very least, he wanted his Uncle Garling to witness the full potential of Devil Fruit powers.

He raised his hand, clenched his fist, and watched the crimson energy surge around it. A sly, evil smile curved the corners of his lips. Then, he glanced at Olvia.

She shivered. Whenever Lloyd's piercing gaze fell upon her, she knew trouble was imminent.

A flicker of apprehension crossed her face, but Lloyd returned his attention to the island ahead and murmured softly, "There is no need for this place to exist anymore."

He raised his arm, and circles of black light spiraled along it, shooting straight into the sky.

Olvia could not comprehend his intent, but every Navy officer on the ship trembled. They had all witnessed Lloyd's graduation exam, and the memory still left an indelible impression.

Without a word, Lucia spun around and shouted, "Start the warship immediately! Put as much distance between us and that island as possible!"

The officers sprang into action, but panic tinged their movements. Olvia sensed the anomaly immediately. The warship accelerated, the engines screaming, as she clung to Lloyd for balance.

Then, a massive sound echoed from above. Olvia looked up, and her pupils constricted as horror overtook her.

A colossal meteorite, blazing with searing fire, had broken through the clouds. It plummeted toward the Sleepy Ancient Town island.

Boom!

The impact was apocalyptic. The island fractured, sinking into the sea alongside the meteorite, leaving a churning vortex in its place.

But the danger did not end there. Debris flew in all directions, casting a shadow over the warship.

Just as the vessel was about to be struck by the torrent of rock, a blinding white light erupted from Lloyd. His Navy cloak billowed as a formidable repulsive force radiated outward, forming a hemispherical shield around the ship. Rocks were shattered into fragments and hurled away harmlessly. The ship continued to sail untouched.

Olvia collapsed onto the deck, her mind blank with disbelief.

He had destroyed an island with a single blow. She had always understood the power of an Admiral in theory, from documents and reports. But now, she had witnessed it firsthand.

With casual ease, Lloyd had summoned a meteorite and erased an entire island from the map. And she knew there were others like him in the world…

Rules, laws, morality — to people of Lloyd's caliber, they were meaningless. To ordinary humans, these powers were godlike.

Olvia lifted her gaze to him, her heart pounding with fear. She imagined the devastation if such a force had fallen on Ohara Island, not much larger than the island just destroyed.

The meteorite's impact had cleared the lingering miasma, sunlight streaming down and casting Lloyd's shadow across her.

He turned, leaned down, and extended a hand to her, a faint smile on his face.

"Sorry, I went a little overboard. Did I scare you again?"
