Simon was silent. This was something he hadn't considered.
He had completely forgotten the unique nature of Harrenhal.
Larys glanced at Ser Simon Strong. His great-uncle appeared decisive, but in reality, he was just an opportunist.
To put it simply, he was a fence-sitter, only thinking of playing both sides and treating everyone else like fools!
"I won't be staying at Harrenhal for long. After I leave, the work of repairing Harrenhal will be entrusted to you."
Larys's words startled Simon.
"Did I hear that right?" he asked, his face full of disbelief. "You want to repair Harrenhal?"
"That's right, I intend to repair Harrenhal. Prince Aegon needs a strong castle, not a dilapidated, gloomy ruin!"
"Is that really necessary?" Simon asked, looking puzzled. "How many years have we been living in Harrenhal?"
"What does that matter?"
"Of course it matters. We don't have money. What will we use to repair it?" Simon spread his hands, indicating a lack of funds.
"Do you think I know nothing?" Larys snorted coldly. "I even know how many copper coins are in the warehouse."
"Money that isn't spent is just a pile of scrap metal. I will arrange for people to come back and check regularly.
You'd best not mess around, or next time it will be Prince Aemond riding Vhagar coming to find you."
Simon's face changed.
Vhagar, hailed as the being closest to "the Black Dread" Balerion, was a 171-year-old dragon whose dragonfire could melt stone and steel!
After warning Simon, Larys took over from Simon to preside over the funeral.
After the tragedy at Harrenhal occurred, Viserys was furious.
Clearly, he hadn't expected Lyonel to make a last-minute decision to personally escort Harwin home.
"Damn it, damn it all!"
Viserys smashed the goblet in his hand.
Daemon looked helpless.
"I had already arranged everything. No one expected Lyonel to go back with them. There's nothing that could be done."
Daemon didn't feel much about Lyonel's death; one could say he was completely unmoved.
Viserys got angry looking at Daemon's indifferent expression.
"Do you think Lyonel's death has no impact on you and Rhaenyra?"
Daemon didn't speak, but his expression clearly said: "What could it possibly matter?"
"Hmph, after the news of Lyonel's death arrived, do you know what the Small Council has been discussing?" Viserys said with a grim face.
"I'm not one of your Small Councilors, how would I know?"
Speaking of the Small Council, Daemon suddenly felt uncomfortable.
To this day, he still felt regret and dissatisfaction that Viserys hadn't appointed him Hand of the King, even though Viserys felt that matter was long over.
"Now the Small Council is discussing appointing Otto as Hand of the King again, and only Lyman opposes this."
"So what?" Daemon sneered. "You are the King. As long as you give the order, what can those greedy leeches do?"
"If everything could be done just by my orders, you wouldn't even be able to return to King's Landing!" Viserys snorted discontentedly.
In his opinion, Daemon was completely speaking without considering the difficulty.
More than half of the officials in King's Landing chose to stand behind Alicent, the Greens also had four dragons that did not obey his commands.
If he refused the Small Council's proposal, the Greens could immediately bring King's Landing to a halt.
Unless they directly broke ties and completely eliminated the Greens' power.
But that would inevitably plunge the originally peaceful and prosperous Kingdom into civil war, a civil war involving dragons!
If civil war broke out, then what would be the meaning of everything he was doing now?
"Your orders are useless because you're not firm enough. I don't believe the Greens dare to rebel, Alicent doesn't have that kind of courage!"
As Daemon spoke, his confidence gradually waned, and the image of Aegon suddenly flashed through his mind.
Perhaps Alicent truly didn't have the courage to raise an army and rebel, but that didn't mean Aegon didn't!
From top to bottom in all of King's Landing, only Viserys firmly believed that Aegon had no ulterior motives, just as he firmly believed that Jacaerys and his two brothers were not bastards.
However, on the other hand, if it weren't for Viserys's personality, he would have been executed countless times by now.
"Perhaps you're right, Alicent doesn't have that kind of courage, but even if there's the slightest possibility, I will absolutely not let a dragon civil war break out!"
"Heh heh." Daemon let out a light chuckle. Even now, Viserys was still fantasizing about peace.
"What are you laughing at?"
"Nothing, I just suddenly remembered something amusing." Daemon turned his head away, not meeting Viserys's gaze directly.
"Hmph!"
Viserys waved his hand, signaling Daemon to leave quickly.
Seeing this, Daemon stood up.
"Oh, and you don't need to go to the Stepstones. I have other plans," Viserys said.
"My pleasure," Daemon said with a half-smile.
Anyway, he was already tired of the war in the Stepstones. It was better if he didn't have to go. Let that kid Aegon deal with the headache.
