Chapter 78 - Chapter 78: Skarner, the Valyrian Steel Greatsword

Just as the three of them were heatedly discussing the origin of the Dragons' skeletons, Hugh knocked and entered.

"Your Highness, I brought someone back. He said he can reforge Valyrian steel swords."

Hugh, wearing Valyrian steel armor, said excitedly.

"You captured a blacksmith who can reforge Valyrian steel and brought him back?" Aegon's eyes widened. "How did you capture him?"

"I didn't capture him. He is someone close to Hidolf. I just happened to learn that he knows the technique for reforging Valyrian steel."

Hugh had originally planned to go to Hidolf's place for a meal, but he unexpectedly encountered a blacksmith who could reforge Valyrian steel.

"Bring him to see me. I have something to ask him. Also, bring that pair of Valyrian steel greatswords."

"Okay, I'll go now."

Hugh turned and left.

Back then, he presented Aegon with Valyrian steel armor and greatswords.

However, Aegon only wanted the two greatswords and instead bestowed the Valyrian steel armor upon him.

Soon, a man even taller and more robust than Hugh was brought before Aegon.

After the man saw Aegon, he immediately knelt on both knees and prostrated himself on the ground.

Aegon blinked his eyes and looked at Hugh.

Hugh's mouth twitched, and he lightly coughed twice.

"Cough, cough, Skaði, you are not a criminal or a slave. You can just kneel on one knee or bow when you see Your Highness. Sorry, Your Highness, she doesn't seem... very intelligent."

Hugh didn't know how to explain. Hidolf said Skaði was the most excellent craftsman he had ever seen, but he always felt that Skaði didn't seem very intelligent.

"You said... she?" Alec's face was full of shock.

'Yes, it's her. Skaði is only 13 years old this year. She's a... little sister, I guess.' Hugh's voice became less confident towards the end.

"Is this fucking 13 years old?" Loren's eyes also widened.

"Hugh, you're not messing with us, are you?" Aegon looked at Hugh.

Hugh frowned slightly: "Hidolf said so, and he asked me to take good care of Skaði. He said Skaði is always hungry."

As soon as he finished speaking.

Grrrrumble~~~

A sound like muffled thunder suddenly rang out. Aegon looked left and right, and finally looked at the red-faced Skaði.

His mouth twitched, and Aegon asked with some uncertainty, "Skaði, are you hungry?"

After being asked, Skaði buried her head even lower.

Aegon gasped. Good heavens, the sound of her stomach rumbling is louder than Aemond's farts?

Aegon, who had intended to ask if the two Valyrian steel greatswords could be forged into four hand-and-a-half swords, had to give up.

"Come here and stand properly so I can see you," Aegon instructed.

Skaði stood up and came before Aegon. After taking off her coarse linen shirt and shorts, she stood up straight.

Hugh, Alec, and Loren awkwardly turned their heads away.

Aegon's mouth twitched, but he didn't show any unusual expression. Instead, he pretended to be calm, otherwise it would be even more awkward.

"Put your clothes on. Just stand here and don't move. I'll have someone prepare food for you."

Skaði quickly put on her clothes and looked a bit embarrassed.

But at least she still has a sense of shame, so she can still be trained.

"Alec, have the kitchen prepare some food and send it over. Send whatever they have," Aegon said.

However, Aegon quickly realized something was wrong.

"By the seven gods, what the hell number bread is this?" Aegon swallowed.

"Replying to Your Highness, this is already the third loaf. She also ate five large meat chops, ten fried eggs, two plates of fried bacon, and three cups of warm milk."

Hugh also swallowed. This was almost his daily food intake.

You should know that the white bread Skaði ate was not sliced, but a whole five-pound loaf of white bread!

Looking at Skaði, who was taller than him even while sitting on a bench.

Aegon suddenly remembered a famous figure from a hundred years later—Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane.

Although Skaði currently looks only about 2.2 meters tall, Skaði is only 13 years old after all.

To put it bluntly, Skaði hasn't reached the age for growing taller yet, and she has always been in a state of not getting enough food.

Skaði devoured the food on the table like a whirlwind, looking like she hadn't had enough.

Seeing this, Aegon waved his hand and instructed a servant:

"Go prepare another roasted suckling pig, a loaf of white bread, ten fried eggs, a plate of fried bacon, and two pitchers of milk."

When Skaði heard that Aegon was going to bestow more food upon her, her eyes immediately lit up, clearly indicating that she was still not full.

Just like that, under the shocked gazes of Aegon and the others, Skaði finished all the newly prepared food.

"I'm full. Thank you, generous master," Skaði said with a simple smile.

"You don't need to call me master. My name is Egon Targaryen. You can call me Prince, or Lord Duke, either is fine.

Now that you're full, I happen to have something to consult you about. Can you reforge Valyrian steel?"

As soon as Skaði heard it was related to blacksmithing, she immediately patted her chest and guaranteed:

"Yes, I can reforge any existing steel, including Valyrian steel, as well as obsidian, meteoric iron, and Dragonbone."

"You can also forge obsidian and Dragonbone?" Aegon's eyes lit up.

Skaði nodded heavily.

"Yes, and I'm best at making obsidian and Dragonbone items, because my previous master was very fond of collecting related items."

Hearing this, the surprise on Aegon's face was evident.

Hugh placed the two Valyrian steel greatswords before Skaði.

"Look at these two Valyrian steel greatswords. Can they be forged into four hand-and-a-half swords?"

The moment she saw the two Valyrian steel greatswords, Skaði's eyes lit up. She darted forward and gently stroked the sword blades, her face full of fascination.

"Valyrian steel is a magical steel material infused with magic.

Valyrian craftsmen repeatedly forge it thousands of times to balance and remove impurities from the steel.

Then they apply spells or other unknown techniques to give the steel extraordinary qualities.

Valyrian steel is light and hard, sharper than any other steel, and will not spoil even after hundreds of years.

Most Valyrian steel is dark gray, appearing almost black.

Any ordinary fire, even Dragonflame, cannot damage Valyrian steel."

Skaði rambled on and on, but Aegon didn't understand a single bit.

"So, if even Dragonflame can't melt it, can you reforge these two Valyrian steel greatswords into four hand-and-a-half swords?"

"Of course. My father taught me a special method for smelting Valyrian steel before he died."

"I need people to help build the furnace. Do you have any special requirements for the four hand-and-a-half swords?" Skaði asked.

"Yes. Later, I'll take you to see four Dragons. I want to imprint the characteristics of the four Dragons on the swords."

The reason Aegon wanted to reforge the two Valyrian steel greatswords into four hand-and-a-half swords was to give one to Helena, Aemond, and Daeron each.

"Come with me. I'll take you to see those four great Dragons first."

Without further ado, Aegon stood up, ready to take Skaði to see the Dragonpit.
