Chapter 129: Cooperation
Elenia was a shadow assassin of the Elven Court. While her forte was stealth, tracking, and assassination, her ability in direct combat was also formidable, far surpassing that of ordinary humans.
Yet, this powerful warrior couldn't even last a single exchange against Mason.
The others' expressions changed, and they involuntarily moved closer to Princess Nuala.
Mason shrugged.
"Although you don't look human, I mean you no harm."
"I think there's some conspiracy involved; it seems someone is deliberately trying to guide me to you." He then briefly recounted the events to Princess Nuala.
"Is the Issa Gregory you mentioned a tall, menacing bald man?"
Mason nodded.
Princess Nuala sighed.
"He's the one who kidnapped over a dozen of my people. That man makes me very uncomfortable; even from a distance, I can feel the void-like aura emanating from him."
"Do you know where he is?"
Princess Nuala shook her head. "A few days ago, a group of armed soldiers raided one of our hideouts and kidnapped all our people. In the chaos, I was escorted out, and since then, I've lost contact with all my clan members."
"We've been secretly investigating these past few days, but haven't found any leads. I never imagined that just going to a nearby town to buy supplies a few times would expose our location."
Hearing the princess's words, Elenia, who had just recovered, looked ashamed.
It was clearly because of her carelessness, though she was agile and hadn't been followed the first few times.
Connecting Princess Nuala's words, Mason had a theory. Although he didn't yet know what Issa Gregory's purpose was in capturing the elves, having controlled Mary and mastered Nazi biochemical modifications, he would likely use these elves for human experiments.
It seemed that Chekov wasn't as honest as he appeared, and probably had some connection to Issa Gregory.
"Now that we see our goals align, perhaps we can join forces to find Issa Gregory," Mason offered, extending an olive branch.
He had already made up his mind; once he found Chekov, he could follow the trail to uncover Issa Gregory.
"Okay, I agree," Princess Nuala readily nodded.
"Princess!"
the other elves exclaimed, clearly disagreeing with Princess Nuala's decision.
Waving her hand, Princess Nuala stopped them from speaking further. "Have you forgotten my abilities?"
She stepped forward, reaching out to gently touch Mason's fingers.
Mason was startled, feeling as if invisible eyes were seeing right through him, but just as those eyes were about to continue their probing, they were repelled by an inexplicable force.
"Ah!"
Princess Nuala frowned slightly, looking at Mason with a puzzled expression.
"How strange, you're the only human I haven't been able to sense emotions from in all these years."
"This feeling is so wonderful!"
Princess Nuala's face lit up with joy, like someone who had discovered something precious.
Being able to sense others' emotions, even their thoughts, seemed like an amazing ability, but for Princess Nuala, it was a kind of curse.
Because of this ability, she had no friends, and even her twin brother kept distancing himself from her. She seemed to be able to read everyone's minds, but in reality, she had lost the ability to connect normally.
But Mason's appearance brought her an unknown sense of relief.
Mason was startled, only then remembering that in the movie, this elven princess possessed a special ability—to sense the emotions and even thoughts of others through physical contact.
Just now, she must have used this ability on him, but for some reason, his consciousness was blocked.
"This might be the protection mechanism of the Time-Space Express Company." Mason breathed a long sigh of relief. He had watched some of the movies before his transition, and he didn't remember parts of the plot very clearly now.
He had completely forgotten such a crucial detail.
It seems I must be extra careful in future operations, and not assume I can do whatever I want just because I know the plot well.
"Although I can't sense your thoughts, I don't feel any malice from you. What you said should be true, I believe you," Princess Nuala said earnestly to Mason.
Just then, heavy footsteps echoed in the passage. Agent One poked his head out and looked at Mason, "Sir, we're surrounded by a group of Soviet soldiers!"
"How many are there?" Mason clenched his fist, a glint of deadly intent flashing in his eyes.
"At least thirty. They're well-equipped. I suggest we retreat!"
Mason and Agent One hadn't carried many weapons while tracking Elenia; a direct confrontation would inevitably result in casualties.
Mason smiled, "It's not that easy." He turned to Princess Nuala, "Is there another exit here? I want to go out and teach them a lesson!"
"There's another passage that leads to the farm's edge, but there are too many people outside. Let's retreat first," Princess Nuala suggested.
"If we don't eliminate them all, we can't escape far in this snowy terrain. Moscow isn't far from here. Once they get the message back, we'll have nowhere to hide in this open wilderness, facing endless pursuers!"
"So if we want to survive, we have to eliminate them all!" Mason said decisively. Without waiting for Princess Nuala's reaction, he rushed out through another passage, with Agent One following closely behind.
After a moment, Princess Nuala said to the elf wielding the longsword, "Mr. Wink, go help. Be careful."
Meanwhile, Mason and Agent One had already quietly slipped out through the secret passage to the edge of the farm.
The night was dark, the sky thick with clouds, and the moonlight shone faintly on the ground.
"A dark and stormy night."
"Be careful, don't make a sound," Mason instructed Agent One, then crouched low, deployed his gauntlets, extended his claws, and moved out.
The Soviet soldiers on the perimeter were still on guard, but they never expected a phantom figure to silently attack from behind them.
Mason moved with lightning speed, eliminating seven soldiers in quick succession without being detected. After clearing out some hidden sentries, his movements became increasingly unrestrained, and his elimination speed increased.
Five minutes later, through his and Agent One's combined efforts, the entire outer perimeter of Soviet soldiers had been neutralized.
Although the bodies could be hidden, the strong scent of blood still alerted the soldiers inside the defensive line.
However, by this time, Mason and Agent One were already fully armed, so they stopped concealing themselves and engaged in direct combat.
Even in the pitch-black night, Mason's vision wasn't greatly affected. He concealed himself, fired, and repositioned, each shot claiming a life.
The soldiers could only hear the gunfire from the shadows, but couldn't locate Mason anywhere.
"A demon!"
"This guy is a ghost!!"
When Mr. Wink emerged from the secret passage, he saw corpses scattered everywhere, and the scent of blood permeating the entire farm.
He had a vague feeling that his princess had chosen a dangerous ally.
