I remember what life was before, my origin world if you will. My first life on earth and my friends and family before it happened. Before we were invaded, culled, killed, eatten. For all the power we thought we had as a planet and all our warring and posturing nothing not even our fantasies could have truly prepared us for just how small we truly were. I remember being in the united states as an exchange student with others like me from all over the world.
My group I hung out with was a decent sized mixing pot of ethnicity. I myself was Japanese American my father was from Houston and mother from Osaka. I'd been in Denver on a snowboarding/skiing trip with my group of friends laughing and enjoying life when it happened. There was a boom so loud it make the earth shake and then the sky seemed to blacken but it didn't get completely dark. The sun suddenly turned black with a white ring around it and the air felt cooleder which was horrible considering it was already only 2°F. Then just as sudden a silky smooth enchanting voice could be heard everywhere all at once. "Dear me so many humans, so much... fooooood" it said its voice starting with a hint of laughter and ending hungrily.
Then monsters from nightmares appeared from strange portals in different places in every country and began to flood each continent in swarms. For all our military mights, our weapons we were weak. Bullets did little to nothing, tanks were barely more effective against the weaker troops and bombs were the only thing that could kill their first waves. But soon stronger and more fearsome opponents came and make even our nukes when we felt it was finally necessary look like little firecrackers. They're explosions contained and compressed into magical bubbles high in the sky leaving us completely defenseless to them.
They turned us into slaves and food placing us in camps and using us for some of our more intricate engineering abilities to teach their people some of the building techniques that intrigued them before eatting us for nourishment.
After 5 months that seemed like an eternity they had reduced our 8 billion strong population to a mere 10,000. Of my group of 40 friends I had been on a trip with 5 of us were left. We had hid trying to use the cold of the mountains to hid us and stay underground but their abilities with magic were something we could never counter.
They hunted us for game before bringing us into one of the last camps. Their we found that the last humans alive had been gathered for the queen to feed on to make more troops. She came and I hugged my group as we watched a half spider half female creature that was the size of 2.5 story house walk over and purr hungrily. "This is the 10,000 souls I told you to bring me?" She said looking at us and licking her lips. "Yes my queen, these are the last of them from every corner we've ensured that none escaped. Even the few hidding in deep underground bunkers whom thought their safety was assured were found and dragged screaming in horror before you." A tall giant of an man 9 feet tall that had what looked like small ant pinchers on each side of his mouth spoke bowing to the spider lady as he spoke.
"Good work Gènjear I am hungry and need to birth more children quickly I fear he will find us soon I need more strength if we're to survive this endeavorous find while worth it was too time consuming their toys were abit more of a nuisance than we thought they'd be." She finished wryly. "Bring that one too me and line them up let's hurry" she said looking and gesturing to me. I looked at my friends and stood accepting our reality and that at least I wouldn't have to watch any more of them die.
"Thank you guys for being such great friends maybe in our next life we can do it again?" I said trying to smile at them and walked forward. "Oh? How sweet the boy knows how to accept his fate." The spider queen said smiling and reached down picking me up with both hands and looking at me curiously. "Tell me human why do you not scream and beg or try to barter for your life like so many before you?"
I looked at her and smiled wryly with contempt. "Why the fuck should I waste my time and breath doing something so usless? Your people already found us hidding and took our last hope for survival. Just finish it already I'm tired of this shit." She looked at me bemused with a glint of laughter in her eyes. "Well isn't that new, a man who actually has a backbone. You know even some of your strongest men shit themselves or pissed when they got to this point and realized nothing they did or said would stop me from biting them in two or eating them whole?" She laughed and sighed "Oh well still won't stop the inevitable time to die little one let's see if you hold that resolve."
She opened her mouth and began to raise me towards it when suddenly she froze and I felt her begin to shake. "No, its not possible, this is too fast! How, how did he find me so quickly this was a new world and we killed all of the guardian gods before they could run or flee." She whispered in horror and looked up. The suddenly their was an earth shaking boom again and a laughing voice called out.
"Hahaha you thought you could escape little girl? Fine die with your army and the last vestige of your clan Zeithia of Zelikeam!" He roared then something not even this queen would think of happened. The earth cracked and she pulled me in close hugging me as if I was some stuffed animal tightly her eyes bulging in horror.
"How can he be so strong?!" She weapt and then it happened the earth exploded with such force that none could escape and death took everyone. In the quite of space a male god stood and looked with narrowed eyes at the debree of the world.
"Hmmm? Female but not Zeithia or any of her known associates a survivor of the original planet perhaps? No matter they were not strong enough for me to worry anyhow I'm tired and she was the last. Time to rest for abit that took alot out of me I need to recover my strength one little insignificant God somehow escaping can wait I'll track her down and deal with her later." He stretched and vanished leaving just as suddenly as he'd appeared.
"I'm sorry my children this is the best I can do." A sweet old voice whispered holding the last souls of the human race within herself tenderly before focusing. "I will help give you a chance but that is the last I can offer" then it went quite again and not a sound could be heard.
