NOAH.
I had actually thought I was dead.
After everything that had happened, after the pain, the darkness, and the complete loss of awareness, I genuinely believed my life had finally come to an end.
For a while, there was nothing—no sound, no light, no sensation just endless darkness.
But then pain shot violently through my head. A sharp, crushing pain that felt as though someone had driven a blade straight through my skull.
A groan escaped my lips.
The agony was enough to drag me back to reality and that was when I realized something.
I was still alive.
The realization settled slowly into my mind but the moment I accepted the truth, only one person came to mind.
Maria.
My heart immediately tightened.
Was she okay?
The thought struck me with such force that every other concern vanished instantly.
I didn't care about my injuries, I didn't care about where I was, I didn't even care about how much pain I was in…I just needed to know if Maria was safe.
