~{Chapter 2} The Future partner~
"..What a small world.. who would've thought my future business partner is the same cry baby I met just this afternoon.."
Liya teased me as we walked round the mansion, we didn't really have much to do or say inside so I decided to give her a tour of our house instead.
"For the last time, I'm not a cry baby.. it was just a one time thing..."
I defended. But she just kept laughing hard, even her laughter sounded so pleasing to the ears, It made her look even prettier. She had the most perfect set of teeth, her lips were juicy and perfect, her nose were so tiny and pointy and cute, her eyes had the universe in them, her glowing skin, everything was just perfect. If I was asked to describe a perfect person, it'll definitely be Liya.
"So.. how old are you..??"
She asked, flashing those gorgeous smile at me again, I shook my head.
"Focus Maya"
I thought to myself
"18.. I'm 18 years old, but I'll be turning 19 in two months.."
I finally answered.
"Oh. Wow.. I'm 20"
She replied
"Hmm you're older... You're 2 years older.. but Jai's older than you..."
"Who's Jai..??"
"My late older brother.."
"Ohh.... I'm sorry.. what happened to him.."
"Accident... I fought with my parents and angrily left the house it was getting late and there was heavy downpour too, so Jai came to look for me. I was so angry and didn't look where I was going not untill I heard the screeching sound of tires and multiple car horns, when I looked up, a car was approaching me, I was soo shocked I literally froze, and even when I tried moving to run out of the road, my legs won't move. I had already given up, then I felt someone push me so hard I went flying, the only thing I remember was a loud thud sound.. then I saw a person, a boy, he rolled towards me, there was blood and the place became quite... and dark. Then suddenly, it was noisy again and there was light, and lots of people in white coat, then a woman came to me, she was crying and yelling at me that I had killed her son, she asked me why, and told me to bring back her son, so I went to see which son she was talking about, when I got to his bed, his face was covered, so I took off the sheet, he was smiling, I saw him smiling, so I told him to sand up and let's go tell his mother that he wasn't dead, but he won't listen. I tried, I really tried to convince him, I even tried blackmailing him with his childhood photos, he hated how he looked, and it would work everytime I wanted something, so why didn't it work this time around..??, why did he refused to stand up and follow me to go see his mom and tell her he wasn't dead..?? Why did he do that..??"
I felt Liya move closer to me and then pulled me in for another hug, and I only realized I had been crying when I heard her sniff.
"I'm sorry... I'm really sorry.. I'm sorry you had to go through all that.. I had no idea and I asked you.. I'm sorry.."
She continued. I felt embarrassed, and bad, again, actually I felt worse. She was crying because of me, first I made her apologize when she did nothing wrong, now she's apologizing again, and with tears. It would've been better if I was the only one crying, then she would continue calling me "Cry baby", I didn't mind at all, but now she's also crying and it's my fault. I slightly pulled away to look at her face. She was gorgeous even when she's crying, how's that even possible, her lashes were standing separated and thicker and darker and the tip of her nose were a little red and her lips were even more moisturized, God she had to be unreal cause there's no way an actual person looked like that while crying. She smiled at me, then gently wiped my face with her thumb.
"Later on you'll say you're not a cry baby.."
She teased again, in the most gentle soothing voice I'd ever heard, I forced a weak smile back at her. We stood there, staring at each other, lost in the silence of the moment, but then the housekeeper came calling, it was time for them to leave.
The next morning was different, the same everything, but different everything. The sky looked the same but I swear it was different, the food tasted the same but it was more delicious, the air felt the same but it was more refreshing, I knew it, I knew the reason for these changes, I wasn't aware, but still I knew it was because of her, nothing has been the same since she stepped into my life, as if I took a deep refreshing breathe. I hurried and got ready for school, then my driver dropped me off, I had been so carried away the previous day that I'd still forgotten to get her number, or know her department, but it was fine, at least now I was sure I'd never loose her again. Lectures took forever to finish, as if it was taking the slowest time on earth, but it had finally ended, and I can now finally go look for Liya. I hurried to the library to see If I could find her, but she wasn't there, so I went over to the canteen, it was faced directly towards the schools entrance gate, so I could still see her even if she was leaving.
"Perfect..now I just have to wait"
I said to my self as I focused my eyes on the exit, but even after a couple hours passed, Liya still didn't show up.
"Did she not have class today..?? Or has she perhaps gone home earlier..??"
I said to myself, but it was already getting late, so I had to go home.
"There's still tomorrow... Let's try again tomorrow..!!".
As I walked down the hallway that led to the building's exit, I heard voices, it was a male's and female's voice, I slowed down to get a better hearing, they were moaning.
"are they making out..?? Here...??"
I thought to myself and decided to go closer to see who they were, I tiptoed towards the staircase, then quietly grabbed the handle for support, then I peeped down to get a better view, but immediately, I regretted it.
"Liya...??!!"
I called out, feeling my heart break into a billion tiny piece. Liya immediately shifted from the guy, arranged her dress, and then decided to completely shatter what was remaining of my heart.
"Hi... Maya.."
She replied, sounding a little bit confused.
"Uh..this is my boyfriend, Nong, Pee'Nong, my future business partner Kamaya Chantasiri....".
I stood there, frozen, feeling every part of my body go numb, did she just say "boyfriend", she just said "boyfriend" Of cause he's her boyfriend, it's not like I was expecting her to be single or something. but why, why was I feeling hurt, of cause she'd have a boyfriend, she's way too perfect to not have one, I bet she has a lot of friends too, I bet so many people are lining up begging to be friends with her, cause I definitely would. But still it hurts, why does it hurt tho, did I think I was going to be the only friend she'd have, perhaps I wanted to be the only friend she'd have, as I stood there watching them being all smoochy and sweet, it dawned on me that she'd just introduced me as her "future business partner", Not a friend, but a business partner, a "FUTURE" business partner at that, Wow, like I wasn't broken enough.
Liya had offered to take me home but I declined, I wanted to be alone, I needed some fresh air. I clutched onto my chest as I slowly walked home, probably looking like I was tired of living. It hurt, it really hurt, I could feel it physically. I wondered what they were doing, probably being all smoochy and sweet, when did they even get to meet and start dating, Liya was new, barely even two weeks. So what transpired between them, how did they end up together, or was it some sort of fake dating, probably to shoo off people that won't stop bothering her, I had questions, no audacity to ask tho, but I had questions, and the fact I couldn't just go and ask her, killed me even more. As I walked down the street, I heard noises, I immediately snapped back to reality, and that's when I realized I had unknowingly walked to the main road. I looked at the cars, their lights bright and flashy, almost blinding me, the horning and people yelling, the events of the day my brother died started replaying in my head, I felt my chest tighten up and I couldn't breathe, and when I tried walking away, my feet's won't budge, I was stuck, again,
"perhaps I'd finally get to pay the depts I owe you, Jai..!!"
I thought to myself as I prepared to get sent to the afterlife, and just then, I felt someone hold my hands and pull me out of the road.
"Maya.., you are okay... Breathe... Okay just breathe... You're fine now.. you're okay..!!"
She said, flashing the saddest, most depressing smile I'd ever seen, her eyes filled with tears threatening to race down her cheeks.
"Liya...??!!"
Was the only thing I could utter as the place suddenly went dark and quiet.
