Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Sand

Sand.

That's the first thing I saw when I

opened my red eyes. Everything but my shoes are covered in it.

I turn my head to the right. Lying next to me is one of the greatest inventions of mankind, a shovel. Nothing more, nothing less, just a shovel. The key to the hiding of your secrets.

Why is it there? Who knows! It wasn't mine, my shovel is blue, but this one is green. The difference between green and blue is a lot. The sky is blue, while the grass is green, sometimes at least. I've seen yellow skies and grass before, so I guess yellow is what connects blue and green together.

The stuff I'm sleeping in is also yellow, aka sand. I don't like sand, it gets everywhere! Sand is irritating, coarse, and rough. And if sand is the connection between the sky and grass, then I don't like either of those. Maybe I'm just biophobic.

Finally, I get up after lying in the sand for 5 minutes, having intriguing thoughts about this world and its colors. I don't remember how I got here, but I feel like a house fell on my head. My headache explains why I don't remember how I got here, maybe? Like I've said before, who knows!

I stand up, and then I fall onto the sand after about ten seconds. This reminds me of a very blurry dream, one in which I once again struggled to stand up straight. All I remember from that dream is a bunch of fire, not like campfire fire, but the type of fire a wizard would spawn in.

I use all my remaining energy to push myself upwards to a point where I could see something besides sand.

Eventually, I stand up again, and this time I'm holding onto a wall so I don't kiss the ground again. I look around where I am, and I see a couple of houses, but not a single human in sight.

After a couple of steps, I only see half the number of houses that I thought there were. My headache also got a little better. I began to recognize where I am. This is Dara's store, or at least where it was. Now that I know where I am, I can start heading home.

I now lie on my bed after having some

medicine. What my mom had told me was that I went out with 3 of my close friends, Mera, Dateu, and Drence. That's basically all I needed to partially remember what happened.

We wanted to go bury a time capsule that my friends and I created. When we started digging, we found a box.

At first, we thought someone might have beaten us to the spot, but after opening it up, we found the most valuable thing this world has to offer, Keyminite.

Keyminite is what powers the weapons of the Keymineans up North. It can create fire, water, and ice! Well, I guess water and ice are essentially the same thing. But Keyminite can't be found in Azraba.

Keyminite can only be found in Keyminea, as the name implies. Keyminite is very rare and expensive here, all of us wanted the box for ourselves. We then started arguing over who needed it the most, and then it all went black.

Like anyone stuck in their bed unable to

sleep, I feel bored. I can't figure out what to do, except, cleaning...

Even with my head beating harder than a hammer, I'm going to be an idiot, and clean my room, instead of just lying in my bed. I'm bored and I can't fall asleep, this is my only option.

While cleaning, I find a piece of paper with my name on it, Eraq. But, on the paper, it's spelled as Ewak. The r's in Azraba names are usually pronounced with the sound of a w. I made this when I was really young, so I didn't know that, even though it's literally my name.

Suddenly, my door creakes open slightly. I step back and drop the piece of paper. My heart beats harder, not faster, but harder. I look toward the door, and there's no threat. It's just Anra, my baby brother.

Now that I think about it, why did I flinch? All that happened was that my door opened more; it must have already been a little open since it's difficult for a 4-year-old to turn a knob that's a gillo (equivalent to a foot) or two taller than him. I don't know why I got scared by such a small sound, but it doesn't matter.

He waddles up to me and gives me a piece of paper. It said Get wel Ewac. I am barely able to read it due to the handwriting. It looks as if a goat scribbled on a piece of paper, holding the pen with their teeth. My mom appears in front of my room.

"He wanted to draw a picture for you," she says.

I flip the paper to the other side, revealing the picture she was talking about. It was a drawing of a boy, but there's more to the picture. The boy had a crown and was eating ice cream, a luxury in this area.

I look at my little brother. "Thank you,

Anra".

He hugs me, or at least my knees. I help him by picking him up.

"Hey, who taught you to write that?" I ask him.

He turns his head and looks backwards, "Momma"

I take a quick look at my mother as well, "Well, you could have taught him how to spell words correctly as well". She wasn't too happy with what I said.

I quickly put down my brother and fall onto my bed. I almost forgot I had a painful headache.

"Are you ok?" Said my brother. I sat up

slightly to give him a pat on the head.

"Maybe, I think I'm dying," I reply. He

stares at me, confused.

"Dying?" he says, muddled.

I shouldn't have expected he would know the concept of death. I'm not going to be the one to explain it to him; I'll leave that to mom and dad, or any random killer on the news that my brother finds out about somehow.
