Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: Is This All You’ve Got?

"I don't care whether he's in there or not. My purpose today is to go in and search," General Ross said coldly, clearly not believing Jack's words at all.

Instead of getting angry, Jack revealed a brilliant smile, but the words he spoke were exactly what General Ross least wanted to hear.

"Impossible."

Ross's face instantly darkened as he barked sharply, "Arrest him!"

More than a dozen soldiers stepped forward at once, raising their rifles at Jack. Two soldiers carrying handcuffs and shackles walked straight toward him, intending to restrain him on the spot.

Jack calmly raised his right hand and snapped his fingers.

In an instant, dozens of Gatling guns equipped with riot shields emerged from the ten-meter-high walls surrounding the park, all of them locking onto General Ross and his troops.

In the blink of an eye, red laser dots appeared on the chests of many soldiers—the unmistakable sign that they were being targeted.

General Ross was both shocked and furious. "You are defying orders! You are opposing the Federal Army!"

Jack maintained a faint smile. "I am not your soldier. There's no reason for me to obey your orders."

Ross stared at him with a murderous expression, enunciating each word slowly. "I will say this one last time. You are opposing the Military, opposing the Federal Government, and making an enemy of the United States."

Jack ignored him and instead spoke calmly to the soldiers who were being targeted.

"Soldiers, those red dots won't kill you immediately. They'll shatter your limbs and leave you unable to take care of yourselves."

"After that, you'll be sent to a Post-War Veterans' Nursing Home for treatment. I happen to have footage of what that 'treatment' looks like. Play the video of the human experiments jointly conducted by the Osborn Group and the Military."

As soon as he finished speaking, a projection device popped out of the wall, casting a clear image onto the park's main gate.

A burly man with only his right arm intact lay alone on a hospital bed, his face filled with despair and agony.

General Ross immediately sensed that something was wrong. He drew his pistol and fired at the projection device.

His aim was flawless—but the bullet lacked sufficient force. It ricocheted off the device and struck one of the soldiers surrounding Jack in the leg.

"Ahhh—!"

A scream echoed through the air.

"Quick! Get him out of there!"

Two soldiers rushed forward with a stretcher and quickly carried the wounded man away.

"Everyone, pull back!" Ross's face twisted into something truly ugly.

The projected footage split into dozens of smaller screens, each showing disabled soldiers being subjected to brutal human experiments. The results were uniformly horrific, accompanied by piercing screams.

These were secrets never meant to see daylight—and now they were being broadcast openly.

Once none of his men were standing near the iron gate, Ross clenched his jaw and ordered, "Sniper, take it out."

After a brief hesitation, the sniper fired. It took three shots before the projection device finally shattered.

But in those few seconds, more than enough horrifying footage had already been shown.

Now truly furious, General Ross gave Jack a final ultimatum. "Move aside now—or you're going down!"

Jack raised a hand and gave Ross a very clear middle finger, then turned and leaped effortlessly onto the ten-meter-high wall, disappearing back into the park.

"Tanks, prepare to breach the gate."

The armored vehicles shifted aside, clearing a firing line for the tanks.

Inside the park, Jack waved his hand. "Everyone, head to the shelter."

The Black Widows in charge of security immediately received the order and began evacuating everyone toward the safe zone.

Outside, the army retreated more than a hundred meters. Against Gatling guns positioned ten meters high, anywhere closer would be suicide—unless you were hiding directly beneath a tank.

At the rear, five tanks lined up side by side, their hulls providing cover for the soldiers behind them.

With no obstructions remaining, the cannons were aimed directly at the gate.

"Fire!" General Ross ordered decisively.

The tank crews pulled their triggers, and the shells screamed through the air.

They struck the gate like falling meteors, kicking up an enormous cloud of dust and smoke that completely blocked visibility.

Ross raised his binoculars, trying to see through the smoke.

When the dust finally settled, every soldier's eyes widened.

Only a massive crater remained on the gate—but it hadn't been breached.

Behind the gate, Jack rubbed his ringing ears and laughed arrogantly.

"That's it? That's it?! I use more strength than that when I'm sleeping with your mother. She screams louder than this!"

The soldiers trembled with rage. Ross ground his teeth. "All tanks, switch to armor-piercing rounds! Turn him into a sieve!"

The tanks immediately loaded APFSDS rounds.

"Loading complete."

"Fire!"

This time, Jack dove behind reinforced C100 concrete, lying flat and covering his head.

When the shell struck, a terrifying jet of molten metal blasted through the gate.

Jack felt a chill run down his spine.

Good thing he ran first. Otherwise, that hit might've punched straight through him—though probably not killed him.

Still… did a tank shell count as a missile?

Seeing that the gate was damaged but still standing, Jack shouted again:

"You little trashes—this is all you've got?"

Through the smoke and firelight, Ross didn't need eyes to know—the attack had failed.

"Helicopters, prepare."

The helicopters in the distance lifted off and moved toward the park.

As they hovered overhead, the Gatling guns on the walls pivoted in unison, their black muzzles locking onto the aircraft.

Jack leaped onto the wall and shouted down at Ross, "Move one more inch and I'll—"

Bang! Bang!

Mid-sentence, Jack was blasted off the wall by a tremendous force, crashing heavily into the ground.

Ross lowered his weapon, a victorious smile spreading across his face.

"Looking for death—actually daring to show your head. Helicopters, fast-rope down and open the gate."

"ROAR—!"

A thunderous roar erupted, shaking the ground and nearly making Ross drop his radio.

The smile on his face froze.

Before anyone could react, a massive red monster burst out of the park, slamming into the ground and leaving a deep crater.

"What… what the hell is that?" Ross stared in disbelief.

The monster was unmistakably Jack.

Three meters tall. Muscles bulging. Crimson skin.

Aside from the size, it was his face.

A creature almost identical to the Hulk—something Ross had dreamed of creating—stood before him.

And Jack had done it first.

How could Ross possibly stay calm?

He roared, "Jack! And you still dare claim Bruce Banner isn't in your hands?! Sonic cannons—prepare!"
