Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Three Items

Amon picked up the three items that had fallen out of the shattered jar and examined them carefully.

The first was a dark green strip of cloth.

The second was a round object about the size of a coin.

The third was a pitch-black card.

He could not tell what any of them were just by looking, so Amon decided to use the system to inspect their properties.

Under the system's appraisal, the descriptions of the three items appeared.

[Doraemon's Gourmet Tablecloth: After activation, you can take out any food you want to eat from the tablecloth. One-time consumable, lasts for one hour]

[Revival Coin: One-time consumable. After use, you can revive a friend who has been dead for less than one minute]

[Basic Armament Haki Trial Card: After use, you can temporarily wield basic Armament Haki to attack]

Seeing the descriptions, Amon's expression shifted to one of outright astonishment.

The system had said everything would be worth more than the price, but even so, these three items still stunned him. The other two were already amazing, but that Revival Coin alone was practically an extra life.

Buying a second life for only one hundred thousand Berries, that was beyond "worth every Berry."

This was ridiculous.

As expected of the child of destiny. Just casually opening a jar and he gets something that could defy fate itself.

As a transmigrator, Amon knew that ten years later, during the Summit War at Marineford, Luffy's brother Ace would be killed by Akainu.

As a One Piece fan, he had always felt a deep regret over Ace's death.

If Luffy had a Revival Coin back then, he could have revived Ace the instant he died and avoided that crushing grief altogether.

While Amon was lost in thought examining the three items, little Luffy at his side, on the other hand, looked completely disappointed.

"Big brother, can you eat any of these? They all look kind of normal. You are not a swindler, right?"

He tried putting each of the three items in his mouth and took a test bite, only to find there was no taste at all. Luffy puffed out his cheeks, glaring at Amon angrily.

"Heh, of course not. These three things are incredibly precious."

Seeing Luffy looking so let down, Amon chuckled and started explaining.

"First, this dark green cloth strip. It might not look like much, but it is a magical cloth. It holds all kinds of delicious food inside. As long as you can imagine it, it is in there."

"Really?"

The moment Luffy heard that he could eat anything he wanted, his mouth flooded with drool.

"I want meat. Lots and lots of roast meat!"

"No problem. Big brother will conjure roast meat for you right now."

As Amon spoke, he followed the system's instructions and silently thought the words "roast meat" in his heart.

In an instant, huge piles of roast meat appeared on the tablecloth, rising like a small hill and filling the air with an irresistible aroma.

"Niku, niku!"

The roast meat had barely materialized when Luffy's eyes lit up. He did not care in the slightest whether this food was safe to eat. He just grabbed a hunk of meat and stuffed it into his mouth.

"Mmm, so good. It is so tasty!"

Luffy's way of eating was downright terrifying. He grabbed a piece of roast meat bigger than his own head, bone and all, and crammed it right into his mouth.

Even though Amon had mentally prepared himself and knew Luffy's eating habits were monstrous, he was still scared half to death watching it.

Holy crap, how is he not choking to death like that?

But clearly he was overthinking it. Whether it was because Luffy had eaten the Gum Gum Fruit or because his body was just weird, the meat he swallowed did not clog his throat at all. Instead, his stomach was like a bottomless pit. The mound of roast meat the size of a small truck vanished into his belly and nothing happened to him.

"Big brother, it's so good. You should eat too!"

After wolfing down meat like a starving beast, little Luffy finally remembered there was someone else beside him. He wiped the grease from his mouth and called for Amon to join in.

"Thanks, Luffy. I am not hungry. Take your time. There is more after you finish."

If Amon had not said anything, it might have been fine. But the moment Luffy heard there was "more after you finish," he started eating even faster.

He shoveled the meat into his mouth with both hands, stuffing it straight down his throat, not even bothering to remove the bones.

Emmmmmmm

Truly worthy of the man who loves meat more than anyone.

An hour later, little Luffy finally stopped. He patted his belly, now several times larger than his own body, and let out a satisfied sigh.

"So, I did not lie to you, right? Worth every Berry, isn't it?"

Seeing Luffy finally done eating, Amon asked with a squinting smile.

"Mm, mm. Big brother, you are amazing. So cool, just like Shanks!"

Right now, Luffy's admiration for Amon was boundless, a fanaticism on par with diehard fans chasing idols in later generations.

"Heh, just basic stuff. Sit, sit."

"Oh, right. There are still two treasures from the jar that I have not shown you yet."

As Amon spoke, he remembered the two items he had set aside earlier because Luffy was too busy devouring meat to care.

"Do those two also turn into food?"

Hearing there were still two more treasures, Luffy's first thought, naturally, was that they might produce something to eat.

In his opinion, anything that made food appear was a treasure.

"No."

Faced with Luffy's overly straightforward logic, Amon could only smile wryly.

"If they do not turn into food, how are they treasures?"

The light in Luffy's eyes dimmed the instant he heard that. He looked a bit disappointed.

"These two treasures are much more amazing than creating food. Let us talk about this black card first. If you use it, you can temporarily gain basic Armament Haki…"

Amon was just about to continue when he caught sight of Luffy's completely blank expression.

Emmmmmmm

Right. He had completely forgotten that at this point in time, Luffy did not even know what Haki was.
