Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The Boy of Tenrou Island

Spring, X679, Tenrou Island.

High up on the Tenrou Tree, a young boy was leaning against a thick, long trunk, sitting cross-legged on a branch.

Pale golden sunlight filtered through the gaps in the branches, sprinkling onto the boy's tender face.

The boy had short black hair and wore a set of thin cloth clothes that had been washed until they were nearly white. On his feet were a pair of old cloth shoes stained with quite a bit of mud. His attire looked rather shabby.

Clearly, his family circumstances were not well-off.

However, his eyes were quite spirited, and as his gaze shifted, it revealed a mental state that only a new human life possesses.

"Just a little bit more."

Weston subconsciously licked the corner of his lips, his eyes gleaming as he stared unblinkingly at the object before him.

It was a sphere constructed of magic power, resembling a 3D model.

The sphere itself wasn't large, about the size of a basketball, but the information contained within it was more than ten thousand books combined.

"Just a few more tries, and my Super Archive will be able to connect to the historical magic database."

"By then, all the magic in this world will be within my grasp!"

However...

Beep beep beep—

The next moment, a rapid and loud alarm sounded.

At the same time, a large number of Danger Warning signs popped up on the surface of the magic sphere.

"Hm? Not good!"

The appearance of the alarm made Weston's expression turn ugly instantly.

He waved his hand, and a virtual keyboard immediately appeared in front of him. His ten fingers moved at once, tapping away furiously as he quickly severed the connection between his own magic and the large database.

Half a minute later, the magic light sphere displayed a Disconnected sign.

Only then did Weston breathe a sigh of relief, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead before falling backward.

"Sigh... failed again!"

"It seems that invading this database will still take some time."

Weston stared blankly at the sky.

The surroundings were quiet and peaceful, causing him to involuntarily recall his own marvelous experiences.

An online novel writer, died from overwork while typing, and transmigrated to another world—it was the most typical opening.

After years of observation, Weston was certain that he had transmigrated to the world of Fairy Tail, and the place he was currently in was the holy land of the Fairy Tail Guild—Tenrou Island.

It was just that his transmigration time was a bit too early.

Compared to other peers, he had arrived nearly 100 years ahead of schedule!

In this era, the concept of a Magic Guild had only recently risen in Ishgar, and the Magic Council, ERA, which would be responsible for managing magic guild organizations in the future, was currently just a makeshift setup.

The way most magic guilds operated was very crude—the guilds themselves lacked sufficient cohesion, commission missions had absolutely no guarantees, and the execution of missions was quite barbaric and rude.

Guilds even frequently fought over territory and clients.

Mages were not a disciplined or principled profession; deaths caused by mission conflicts and guild struggles happened frequently.

To put it plainly, mages nowadays were thugs, and magic guilds were not much different from gangs.

At this time on Tenrou Island, there was only one magic guild, named Red Lizard.

Weston's parents had been members of Red Lizard, but they had died half a year ago during a mission to subjugate a magical beast.

Since then, Weston had become an orphan.

After his parents passed away, Weston awakened the magic Super Archive, which gave his young self a means of survival.

However, although Super Archive possessed excellent data processing capabilities, it could not form considerable combat power.

Coupled with Weston's young age, he wasn't very well-liked by the people in the guild.

Fortunately, the Guild Master, considering that Weston's parents were old employees of the guild and seeing that he had awakened magic at a young age, gave him an assistant job.

Not an assistant to the Master, but to the Master's daughter—Zera.

To put it simply, he was Zera's follower and errand boy.

Of course, Weston preferred to call his job the Guardian Knight of the Guild's Young Miss.

Zera was only six years old this year, just the age to attend school.

Weston's main task was to protect the Young Miss on her way to and from school every day and help her carry her schoolbag during the process.

And while Zera was in class at school, Weston had plenty of time to do his own things.

Like now.

However, Weston wasn't slacking off.

As a transmigrator who had awakened a rare magic like Super Archive, he was unwilling to remain subservient to others and live off charity for his whole life.

Moreover, he had read the original Fairy Tail work and knew that soon, Red Lizard would be destroyed by another magic guild, Blue Skull, and in that battle, only Mavis would ultimately survive.

To save his own life and to learn magic capable of powerful attacks, he began trying to use his Super Archive to communicate with the great magic database.

Super Archive was a very rare and high-level magic, known as a Super-High Tier Magic.

It was the superior version of the Archive magic used by the mage named Hibiki from Blue Pegasus and Brain from Oración Seis.

It was on the same level as Irene's Enchantment and Gildarts' Crush.

In the original work, there was one other person who knew this magic: the former Chairman of the Council.

After defecting to the Nine Demon Gates, that Chairman had used this magic to control the Face switches across the entire continent.

However, Super Archive could do more than just that.

Through his research during this period, Weston discovered that the magic of Super Archive had obvious differences from other magics.

Other mages, whether using Caster Magic or Holder Magic, constructed a mature and stable growth system using their own magic power.

In that system, mages only needed to temper their bodies and mental strength to continuously become stronger.

But the magic of Archive was different.

Behind it was a massive database jointly created by all mages who had used Archive and Super Archive throughout history.

To give a similar example, it was like the internet.

All mages using Archive or Super Archive were individual network terminals.

The only difference between the two lay in the fact that Super Archive was more powerful in terms of calculation ability and operation speed than Archive, and had more available operations.

These mages connected their terminals to an invisible server and processed the information inside by downloading and uploading data.

The only variable affecting calculation ability and operation authority was the mage's magic power.

Through this invisible magic network, Weston could find all the magic data uploaded by past users of Archive and Super Archive on the continent!
