Chapter 46 - Violet? Velvet? Jealousy?

Ren was carrying Ann towards a safe room while the group protected him. Shiho was panicked for her friend, but Ren assured her that the doctor he knows is reliable according to Sojiro, which calmed her down. She was thinking that a doctor who sells a kid medical supplies can't possibly be reliable, but Sojiro emits an aura of dignity and learned experience, so she chose to trust his word.

At the same time, she was angry with herself because she felt uncomfortable seeing Ann in a princess carry. Briefly remembering when she was caught by Ren when they were expelled from the Palace the day Ren awoke to his Persona and met Morgana.

'Do I want to carry Ann? Is that why I'm jealous?' Shiho considered.

'Just admit you're attracted to both of them,' Scathach advised. 'You've known you are bi for years. Since when does a warrior queen not fight for what she wants, disciple?'

'mmmmmmmmm,' Shiho groaned internally.

Thankfully, the nearest safe room was just outside the library, so Ren was able to gently lay Ann on the couch in the safe room. Ann gently groaned and temporarily clenched his clothing, refusing to let go before Shiho approached and gently pet her head. Ann's lips curled into a smile before she let go.

"Should we wait for her to wake up…?" Ryuji asked worriedly.

"I don't know," Ren said. He wasn't often stumped under pressure. He believed that, arguably, he worked better under it. But he truly wanted to get her to a doctor, Justine's words ringing in his head.

"Mon ami."

"Joker."

Arsene and Morgana spoke at the same time.

"She should be fine. Think of it as her exhausting her mental energy and napping to recover," Morgana said as he shifted in his seat, eyes glued to Ann.

'He is right. The twins were referring to your soul not being able to contain Persona that are too strong, or too many.'

'But Persona are a psychological thing, right? Cognitive Science.'

'Where does the consciousness emerge from?' Arsene asked before falling silent.

'Don't bother! He's being all mysterious and dramatic!' Pixie blew a raspberry. 'The Lovers will be fine.'

"I don't think you should carry her from the school to Yongen. That would look bad," Shiho stated. "I'm worried too, but that's a lot of train lines to take."

"Yeah... you might get reported for like... kidnapping or something," Ryuji muttered in frustration.

"And then your life would be over." Morgana locked eyes with Ren with a grave face, finally breaking his stare from Ann as she turned over on the couch.

"Panther is strong," Shiho simply said.

"Cold… blanket," Ann sleep-talked quietly, breaking the tension of the room.

---

"What a good nap!" Ann said with a stretch.

"Wasn't really a nap," Ryuji said in defeat.

"You always know how to break the tension." Shiho smiled.

"I'm better at it," Ren scoffed sarcastically before catching himself.

"Sounds like Pixie is acting up," Morgana smiled.

Just then, Pixie materialized on Ren's shoulder.

"Oh hush, Magician. I am him, he is me!" She stuck out her tongue before floating towards Ann, flying around her and checking on her.

"?" Ann was confused.

"Seems like Ren is concerned," Shiho joked with a smirk.

"Ann, we are going to take you to a doctor after we leave," Ren said definitively.

"I'm fin-" Ann began.

"Now," Ren interrupted.

His eyes narrowed.

"Or do you need a scolding session like you gave me?"

"Fine." Ann pouted before smiling gently.

---

Yongen-Jaya was quiet as always. After such an exciting trip to the Metaverse, the contrast was jarring.

"No fair. Ren gets time dilation in his weird prison thing, but we don't get it for a Palace? We are lucky we weren't late that first time," Ryuji complained.

"We are lucky we didn't die." Morgana shivered, remembering being surrounded on their way out.

"We still don't know what kicked us out," Shiho wondered aloud.

"I have a vague idea," Ren revealed.

"Violet Room bullshit?" Ryuji laughed.

"No, Velvet," Ren chuckled in response. "The room has nothing to do with velvet from what I've seen."

The team enjoyed the atmosphere in Yongen, Ann being helped by Shiho because her legs were still shaking. Soon, the group came across Takemi's clinic.

Opening the door, the bell chimed. Once again, Takemi was the only staff member present, sitting at the reception counter taking notes while reading a difficult-looking book.

"Welcome back, guinea pig," she said in a mock sultry tone without looking up.

"Ren?" Ann and Shiho glared at him.
