Hey there guys, here is the first story I'm going to
upload here. It is an idea I had while going through a bit of an obsession with
the Fate series, specifically the Arthurian stories and characters. I found it
hard to believe that I couldn't find a single fic that brought such lore into
the Zeldaverse, so I thought I'd give it a try. It's a self-insert of OOT with
MC starting as a young Arthur Prototype. Wish me luck and I hope this is
enjoyable. I'm going to warn you guys here that dialogue and events are only
based on the games, they will be in no way verbatim. Dungeon crawls will be
generalized, not room by room, and considering my lack of writing experience,
the fights, well, I'll do my best.
Since I'm not rich, I obviously don't own Zelda or Fate.

Chapter 1
Light of Victory
In the Kingdom of Hyrule; a land of rolling hills,
verdant plains, ancient forests, dormant volcanoes and various races to call
them home, a crisis was brewing. The land was slowly being tainted by a
darkness unseen by most.
The magma inside of the dormant Death Mountain began to
rise, Lord Jabu-Jabu; the Guardian Deity of the Zora's domain, began to show
signs of irritation, the Lost Woods and Great Deku forest began to spawn more
dangerous varieties of plants; some of the biting variety, and monsters began
to appear on the plains of Hyrule.
Stories were long told of a Hero who, wielding a sword of
Light, would always appear to banish the darkness and bring peace to Hyrule…just
to fade again into obscurity.
This time, however, the subtle nature of the intrusion of
this darkness has caused a shift. This shift has resulted in the need for
another light.
In the Great Deku Forest, the Great Deku Tree appeals to
the Goddesses…
Great Deku Forest
"Din, Farore, Naryu…I beseech thee…A great darkness hath
swept the land…I fear that the Hero may not be enough this time…Please…bring us
a light…and may that light…bring us VICTORY!"
Goddess Realm
In the goddess' realm; a place in which no mortal has
stood, the three Goddesses; three ethereal beings of light shaded green, blue
and red, listened to the plea from the Deku Tree. As beings older than the
concept of time, they had long since lost the concept of empathy. They
essentially operated on calculations and probabilities. Regardless of the
emotion of the sentients they watched over, the goddesses always worked to
shift things in the favor of their survival.
In their latest set of calculations, they determined that
survival of the races of Hyrule was indeed at stake based on the pleas of the
Great Tree. Not even exchanging glances with one another, they began a new set
of calculations.
"Beginning calculation. Terms of relevance: Hero, Light,
Victory. Beginning search of worldlines."
Great Deku
Forest
In the center of a large clearing of the Deku Forest, shaded
by the Deku Tree, a light began to shine on the ground. Said light started to
actualize in the form of three crystalline triangles. Anyone who lived in the
Kingdom could recognize said object as the symbol of the Royal family, the
Triforce. This Triforce isn't glowing gold, however, instead, this Triforce
begins to emit lights of all different colors as the voices of the goddesses
begin to echo as if from above.
"Worldline search in progress. Using relevant search
terms, Hero, Light, Victory. Worldline found. Unable to fully calculate
worldline coordinates. Calculating alternatives…Solution found. Searching for
worldline using terms, Hero, Light, Victory, Triforce, Hyrule. ..Success. Coordinates
established. Narrowing search. Hero found. The Perfect King who saves his
homeland wielding the Sword of Promised Victory …Hero deceased. Finding
solution…Solution found."
As the cold, robotic voice rang out in the clearing, the
light from the crystal Triforce in the clearing began to grow in intensity, the
light casting long shadows across the huge clearing.
Suddenly, a golden circle made of light began to appear,
lines and symbols of unknown origin began to spin and shift as the calculations
ran through the crystal.
"Solution: create physical body for Hero to inhabit.
Obtain as many relevant memories as possible and attempt to recreate Hero's
soul. Unsuccessful. Generating Hero soul based on memories and relevant
information. Unsuccessful. Searching for solution…solution found. Soul found
with similarities to Hero and… relevant information about Hyrule? Body being
created. Red Dragon of Britain factor synthesized. Relevant weapons and
abilities will be added to soul."
The circle of light began to glow brighter and brighter as a
form began to take shape from the ground up. As the figure slowly came into
being, the Deku Tree sighed in both awe and relief.
"Ah, I see…so this shall be the form in which our new
light takes shape. Indeed…a born King…heart of a dragon…a being full of
courage, wisdom and power…yes…it is time…Navi!"
As the Tree's voice rumbled through the forest, a small orb
of light with four wings reminiscent of a dragonfly's flew through the trees towards the clearing.
As it flew through the thick branches and foliage, a ringing sound, like small
bells, followed.
The fairy finally came into view of the clearing, pausing to
take in the sight of the Ancient Tree, and to marvel at the magical anomaly
before its eyes.
"Great Deku Tree, I'm here! What did you need from me?" The
fairy bobbed as she spoke excitedly, her eagerness to please evident, "Also,
what is that thing? Its so pretty! And it feels so warm!"
*Sigh* "Navi…calm yourself…" The Great Deku Tree
rumbled in response, causing the fairy to freeze and chuckle awkwardly, making
a subtle bobbing motion akin to rubbing the back of her head.
"Heh, sorry about that, I was just so excited to be
summoned, finally!" she chuckled, "So anyway, how can I help you?" she asked
again, focusing on the Tree.
"Navi…it is time…the darkness has begun spreading and it
has finally reached this forest…we have need of a Hero, and it is time for you
to awaken them…"
"I finally get a partner!? Oh, Great Deku Tree I'm so
happy!" the fairy squealed, flitting about the branches of the giant tree in
joy, leaving behind sparkles and the ringing of bells. "And let me guess, the
only Kokiri in the forest without a fairy?"
*Sigh* "Yes, Navi…now, go and awaken young Lin-"
"GOT IT!!" shouted the gleeful fairy as she sped off,
leaving the clearing headed for the village of the Kokiri.
"Troublesome child…still, her energy is certainly
refreshing amongst her kind…" The Great Deku Tree said in a fondly
exasperated tone.
Kokiri Forest
Navi flew quickly through the forest into the little village
of the Kokiri, small, childlike beings who have the potential to live for
thousands of years. Each Kokiri is matched with a fairy of the forest at birth,
save for one. Flying in a certain direction, Navi flew towards a lonely
treehouse at the edge of the village.

an orb of blue light hurtling directly towards them.
"Ahhhhhhh!"
"Ahhhhhhh!"
?? POV
In a completely different world; in a small, rural town in a
country called America, a self-proclaimed Otaku knelt before a painstakingly
recreated summoning circle from his favorite series, Fate.
Having recently learned that his remaining time on Earth is
being cut short by cancer, he decided to start doing things that he never
thought he'd get the chance to do; a bucket list.
First on his list was to complete a summoning, just like
those performed to summon powerful Heroic Spirits to fight in the Holy Grail
Wars in the Fate series. For as much realism as possible, he even got a friend
to donate blood from the livestock he raises in order to draw the magic circle.
In the center of the circle; as the catalyst, he placed his
family's most prized possession, the sheathe of a sword, made of a blue enamel,
with gold and silver filigree wrapped around it. He looked around at his
preparations and nodded in satisfaction.
Rising to his full height, he raised his hand in front of
the circle and began to chant:
"Let silver and steel be the essence.
Let stone and the archduke of contracts be the
foundation.
Let Blue be the color I pay tribute to.
Let my great Master Pendragon be the ancestor.
Let rise a wall against the wind that shall fall.
Let the four cardinal gates close.
Let the three-forked road from the crown
reaching unto the Kingdom rotate.
I hereby declare.
Your body shall serve under me.
My fate shall be your sword.
Submit to the beckoning of the Holy Grail!
If you will submit to this will and this
reason…Then answer!
An oath shall be sworn here!
I shall attain all virtues of all of
Heaven.
I shall have dominion over all evils of all of
Hell!
From the Seventh Heaven, attended to by three
greet words of power, Come forth from the ring of restraints, Protector of the
Holy Balance!"
He finished the chant and waited for a few
seconds. Then, he dropped his hand and sighed. "Well, that was fun. First item
on my list is done." He smiled bitterly. "Grandpa, Grandma, I've started on my
list. Heh, I know you guys never really understood my interests but…you never
let me think they were weird, either."
He raised his head, his windswept blonde hair
leaving his eyes, revealing sharp features and emerald green eyes. He looked at
the sky as his eyes shined. "You always taught me how to be kind to others, how
to enjoy life, the meaning of family.." he choked a bit on the last word, his
eyes misting, "I never got the chance to tell you guys how grateful I was…I'd
always wondered if you'd be happy or proud to see where I was now…It's funny,
you know. Grandpa, you were the reason I got into Fate in the first place. All
those old stories about our family, the stories about knights and honor…they
inspired me to always be better, to strive for meaning in anything I did…then
you guys left." Tears began streaming down his face as he spoke.
"You guys left, and it was like I lost my way. I
had no direction, without your guidance. Then Gwen showed me Fate/stay night. I
was hooked. I couldn't believe I hadn't heard of it before. I watched it all,
bought and read every novel and Manga, even dropped frustrating amounts of
money into the mobile game FGO. It reminded me so much if the stories you used
to tell me, how our family could trace ourselves back to the oldest ages of
Britain. Seeing the stories portrayed in Fate, of the Arthurian legends brought
to life in such a way, I felt like I had light again. Like I could live the way
I always had once again."
His face dropped, and he put on a self-deprecating
smile. "Of course, then I found out I had stage four pancreatic cancer. Heh, ready
to live again, only to find out that I'm already basically a walking corpse. So,
I made a list of things I'm going to do before I die. The last few selfish
things I had never given myself the chance to do, starting with making my
spectacular attempt at summoning a knight!" he started quietly, building up
until he nearly shouted the last words, throwing his hands up dramatically, his
blue jacket billowing behind him as he smiled up at the sky again. He chuckled
to himself again as he wiped his eyes and started reaching into his pocket for
his list.
"Okay, well, that's it for now, guys. Ill talk
to you guys after I replay Ocarina of Time again. Hey, what can I say? It's the
simple things, right, grandpa?" He chuckled again as he turned around to grab
supplies to clean up his mess.
*Dooonnnngggg*
He froze as a deep, bone rattling bell chime
rang out behind him. It vibrated through his entire being. He turned around and
his mouth dropped open in shock.
The summoning circle, which had been completely
inert, had suddenly started glowing in a multicolored light.
"Uh…I'm sorry, but, what?" He stared, slack
jawed at the circle, which had started hovering over the ground, spinning in
place.
"Communication line established." An ethereal, almost robotic voice emitted from
the circle, "Your aid has been requested."
"Uh, again, what?" he just continued staring,
completely gobsmacked, unable to comprehend what he was seeing and hearing.
"Repeat, your aid has been requested. Hyrule is in need of a Hero
of Light. Your soul has been deemed compatible."
Recognition sparked in the young man's eyes as
he heard this. "Hyrule? Like, Legend of Zelda Hyrule?" He asked aloud, not
knowing if he could even be heard.
"Affirmative. Search parameters included base knowledge of Hyrule,
and sufficient compatibility with the terms Hero, Light and Victory. Subject most
compatible with search terms deceased. Descendant found with both compatibility
and base knowledge of Hyrule."
"Wait, hold on, you can't actually mean.."
"You are the subject with the highest chance of success. Worldline
coordinates found in which you would most likely accept the request."
"Most likely? What do you mean? Why do you think
I would be more likely to accept it now?" he asked, confused and a bit
apprehensive.
"Other worldlines found you with family, living healthy lives, making
leaving said lives quite unlikely, according to calculations. In this
worldline, you have no family, nothing to leave behind, with an estimated three
months remaining in your lifespan. It was estimated that offering a second life
with a healthy body would be sufficient in gaining your aid." The voice coldly rebounded in his ears.
"Heh. Yeah, I should've guessed. Cold as it is,
I guess I can't fault you for being honest, huh? Well, at least I can be happy
knowing there are some versions of me out there that can live happily." He
looked down, hair shading his eyes. "Hey, whoever you are, I'll be able to help
a lot of people there, right?" he asked, a slight smile touching his lips.
"Affirmative, subject will bring vic-"
"That's not what I was asking!" he snapped, bringing
his face up to look at the circle, his eyebrows knit together in a frown, "Victory
doesn't mean the same thing as helping people."
"Calculating response. Parameters vague. Requesting more inform-"
"Forget it." He waved his hand dismissively,
"I'm pretty sure I know enough about the place to understand." He sighed,
closing his eyes and smiling wryly, "You know, usually when a God isekais
someone, they at least have a little emotional intelligence. You sound like a
robot."
"Requesting information on term 'robot'."
"Again, forget it. Heh, single-minded enough to
ignore any information except that related to your search. Typical robot
behavior." He grinned humorously, "Ah well, looks like this me just gets the
short end of every stick. But hey, looks like all those dreams and stories
weren't for nothing, were they, grandpa? What do you guys think, should I do
it? Is it okay to leave this place? You guys?" tears began falling again from
his eyes even as he smiled brightly to the sky, "Is it selfish of me? That I
want to live? That I want to do something meaningful?"
Knowing he wouldn't get an answer, his smile
faded slightly and he shook his head, "Well, I suppose no answer is answer
eno-" suddenly, wind gusted around him, ruffling his jacket and his hair. He
closed his eyes as images of his grandmother running her fingers through his
hair, and his grandfather ruffling it as he told stories ran through his mind
at a breakneck pace. He opened his eyes again with a choked sob, not even
knowing when he'd dropped to his knees, tears pouring down his face but with
the brightest smile he'd ever had plastered on his face.
"I see. Got it. I should've known you guys
would've been the first to tell me to go. You raised me on stories of
adventure, how could you not want it for me?" he laughed through his tears and
sobs, then, his eyes, which had been dulled with sorrow, began to shine with
determination and, unbeknownst to him, the pupils shifted into a slit shape
reminiscent of a reptile's, "All right. I guess its decided then." He looked at
the circle, "What do I need to do?"
"Subject must step into the circle and press the sheathe to his
chest."
"The sheathe? But why?" he asked, bewildered. He
used the sheathe in the ritual just as a placeholder, considering he didn't
think it'd work, "It isn't real, just a replica my family had for forever.
There's nothing special about it."
"Sheathe has dormant magical signature consistent with records of
item: Avalon, known as the Everdistant Utopia and the sheathe of Ex-"
"No."
"Error. Unable to process query. Please rephrase with more
information."
"My family did not have fucking Avalon all this
time. I refuse to believe something so ridiculous. I know it's a good replica,
even I was surprised when I first saw it but-"
Instead of answering with any words, the circle
lit up brightly and a golden light began to emit from the 'replica' in the
circle.
"Oh." He said in his most intelligent manner, then,
something the voice said earlier came back into his mind, "Wait, earlier, you
said descendant. Surely you can't be implying…but if we had Avalon…but it
wasn't supposed to be real!!" his eyes widened, the implications catching up to
him as he uttered, "I'm an actual fucking Pendragon?!"
"Affirmative. In fact, if taking into account the name change
several centuries back, subject is the forty second Arthur Pendragon to come
from that family line."
"What. The. Fuck. Grandpa. This was kinda
important, don't you think? No wonder you guys want me to go, you don't want me
to come find you guys and beat you up for not telling me! Damn old man! Here I
had this emotional moment of determination and shit and now this bomb drops?"
he started ranting angrily to the air, waving his hands erratically as if to
slap the invisible face of his grandfather in the air in front of him.
"Subject is encouraged to step into the circle and place the
sheathe on his chest." The voice
urged again from the circle, somehow sounding slightly annoyed.
"Yeah, yeah. Okay. I guess I can rant later."
Arthur said, sheepishly rubbing the back of his head, "Anyway, grandpa, don't
think you're safe just yet. They say the Triforce grants whatever wish the
holder desires." He looked up to the sky with his slit pupils and a feral grin,
"After that encouragement from you, wouldn't it only be fair for me to
eventually extend the same gift of a second life to you as well?" he chuckled,
"It'll take awhile, but I'll be seeing you guys again. Be ready, grandpa."
Heaven
An old man, wearing plain clothes sat with his
wife drinking coffee. They had just come back from visiting their grandson and
giving him the push he needed to find happiness.
Suddenly, the old man stiffened, as if feeling a
deep chill in his spine.
"Is something wrong, dear?" his wife asked,
concerned.
"No, love, nothing is wrong. I just can't help
but feel like I forgot something rather important…oh well." He said, shrugging
and taking a sip of his coffee, completely unaware of the Hell that awaits.
"You did tell him about his name, right?" she
asked, receiving a spray of coffee to the face as a response.
America
Arthur suddenly had an odd sense of vindication,
as if out of nowhere.
"Weird. Oh well, beating up grandpa aside, time
to go!" He said, looking around at the home he was about to abandon, "I will
admit, I did enjoy this life, while it lasted." He looked at the circle and
clenched his fists, "All right! Here goes nothing!" he stepped forward,
reaching for the Avalon floating in the circle. As soon as his fingers made
contact, it shattered into particles of light and rushed into his chest, taking
space inside of his soul. He felt a soothing warmth seep into his very being
and closed his eyes in relief. "Wow, so that's what that fe-"
"Initiating transfer. Prepare for complete deconstruction."
"Wait, wha-?"
A rainbow of colors dominated his vision as he
was swept away by the magic of the kaleidoscope.

Mindscape
Arthur opened his eyes to a sight he couldn't
comprehend. As far as he could see, there were only blue skies and clouds,
whether he looked above his head or below his feet.
"Excuse me?"
He jumped as he heard a voice behind him. He spun
around only to have his jaw fall open in shock for what felt like the tenth
time in the past hour. "You! You're-"
"Yes, I am." The man in front of him may as well
have been his twin. The same windswept blonde hair, same green eyes, those same
sharp, noble features. The difference, and it was stark, was the outfit his
doppelganger wore. While Arthur was wearing a red t-shirt and jeans with
sneakers and a long, hooded blue jacket, his twin wore what looked to be a suit
of armor over a blue cloak, with gauntlets and greaves all gleaming a bright
silver. At his waist was a golden sword.
"So, as far as unexpected goes, this pretty much
ranks at the highest so far. I can't believe I'm actually meeting you! Holy
shit!" he started speaking slowly, only growing more excited as he went on,
"You've been my hero ever since my grandpa started telling me stories! I read
and watched everything I could find that even mentioned you! Your story brought
me back after they died!" he didn't know when he gripped the man's cloak, nor
when the tears started falling, he only registered the man's sad smile as his
shoulders were clasped in an oddly warm grip.
"I understand. You were born with a burden you
weren't even allowed the time nor opportunity to identify. You were born and
raised as a knight, though without the formal traditions, you lived as a knight
could in your era. You felt the burden of our name even without knowing it, you
had always felt that there was something you must do, someone or something you
must help…does that sound correct?"
Arthur's eyes widened. His ancestor's words
resonated with him on a level he could feel to the depths of his soul.
King Arthur, for who else could it be, again
smiled sadly, "It was Old Britain calling you. It still remembers us, even if
most people have forgotten. Don't feel bad though, its just a remnant, nothing
would have come of answering that call. The Age of God's is long past, and that
world no longer had magic, just a few echoes yet to fade." He squeezed Arthur's
shoulders warmly, "Why don't we get to the purpose of our meeting, shall we?"
he asked with a warm smile.
"Oh, uh yeah I was wondering about that. Not
that I'm unhappy to meet my idol but, why am I meeting you?" Arthur asked with a
bit of apprehension.
"Well, those goddesses wanted to inject my
memories into you, that way you wouldn't have such a hard time using my
abilities as you go along. But, I wanted to meet you first, to get an idea of
how my abilities and memories would be used." His expression turned solemn as
he frowned and Arthur gulped nervously.
"Y-yeah? And what do you think?" he asked nervously,
noticing that he couldn't move away from King Arthur's grip on his shoulders, "Do
you think they chose badly?"
The king chuckled as his expression softened,
"No, I just wanted it to feel more dramatic. Heh, live around Merlin long
enough and you get a flair for it. They didn't choose poorly, in fact, of all
my descendants who share my name…"

smiled warmly at his descendant.

The realm was awash with a blinding light.

"Error. Compatibility 107%. Compatibility exceeding projected

guidance not recommended. Merging successful?"
For the first time in the history of Hyrule, a
being bore witness to the genuine confusion of the three Goddesses of Hyrule.
"Erm…is everything going well, goddesses?" The Great Deku Tree asked awkwardly, its
rumbling voice sounding uncertain, "Do you need assistance?"
"Negative. Subject merely exceeded expectations. Process will
complete in one hour. Our interference is no longer needed." As those words fell, the Triforce of crystalline
material shattered, leaving behind a humanoid silhouette cocooned in a shell of
rainbow light.
Meanwhile…
"Go get the Kokiri sword, Link! Hey, listen, go
get a shield, Link! Hey, listen, go talk to that person over there!" A
green-clad figure with blonde hair and blue eyes twitched in fury as they
muttered about the annoying fairy they just got saddled with.
Suddenly, they threw their head back and
shouted, "And its fucking Linkle! Not link!"
To be continued…

When Arthur
met Link
The cocoon of light shattered as Arthur was
finally revealed. He wore-…
"HYYYYYAAAAAAAAAT!"
…
"Fuck was that?" Arthur muttered to himself,
looking around the clearing he's seen hundreds of times through a screen. "Wow,
seeing it for real is just so-"
"Hut! Hyaaat! Ahhhhhhrgh!"
"It sounds like it's getting closer.." he
mumbled, tensing, getting ready for a fight.
Suddenly, a figure wearing a green tunic rolled into
the clearing, letting out loud grunts and shouts as it moved along at an oddly
quick pace for the action.
"Wait, is that? But there's no way. He's not
really like-"
The figure came to a sudden stop in front of
Arthur, staring directly into his face. There was no expression on this figure's face, no
happiness, no anger, just a simple look of plain ambivalence to the world
around hi-…
"HYAAAAAAAT!" he suddenly shouted into Arthur's
face, which threw him into a panic as he waved his hands in front of himself in
self-defense, unknowingly summoning his first ability/weapon into his hand as
he did so. That is, unknowingly until the edge of Invisible Air cleanly
decapitated the figure, leaving the corpse to drop to its knees, spraying blood
into the air in a horrifying display of color.
"whatthefuckwhatthefuckwhatthefuckwhatthefuckwhatthefuck!"
Arthur stumbled back with a horrified look as a pink fairy suddenly floated out
of the corpse's pocket and started flying in circles around it.
"HYYYYYYYAAAAAAT!"
