Chapter 153 - Chapter 151

151 Dai Mubai becomes the White Tiger Demon Lord

Ah Yin followed Zhu Zhuqing all the way back to the Sword Sect. If he hadn't devoured dozens of high-rank spirit beasts inside the light orb and broken through the twelfth layer of his beast soul, he never could have covered such a distance.

Regrettably, the moment they reached the Sword Sect gate, a violent boom shook the mountaintop and countless stones burst out of the clouds.

It was already too late!

Zhu Zhuqing wanted to fly up on her sword; the destruction of the Sword Sect meant her home was gone!

Ah Yin appeared and blocked her, his body swelling several times. "Rushing up there will only get you killed for nothing."

Zhu Zhuqing pressed her sword to Ah Yin's neck and glared. "I haven't settled accounts with your master for his last-minute betrayal, and now you're causing trouble too."

There was no stopping her; the woman was stubborn. As she flew upward, a loud ringing rose from clashing weapons.

Less than a minute later Zhu Zhuqing plummeted from the sky, her spiritual power critically depleted.

The pursuer behind her gradually came into view; Ah Yin remembered him clearly—General Bai Xu, Tianyun City's chief commander.

By rights the general should have been at the Tournament; if he was here now, the master must be in danger.

Escape was probably impossible.

Bai Xu's face was twisted. He flexed the right hand that had just struck and sneered, "You weren't part of the plan, but you hurt my brother."

Ah Yin rushed forward and caught Zhu Zhuqing; even that simple motion forced him to unleash his beast soul, for her dissipated spiritual energy had multiplied her body's weight several times.

Bai Xu's excuse was nothing but a cover for his hypocrisy.

Ah Yin gently laid the wounded Zhu Zhuqing on the ground, resolved to gamble everything, though he had to admit the gap in strength was huge.

Every stone and stick around was lifted by his spiritual power and hurled at Bai Xu, yet the general dodged effortlessly and, unseen, struck Ah Yin from behind.

What—Four Heavenly Spirit Bodies! Even stronger than that city lord!

Ah Yin spat bright red blood, swayed, and collapsed as the World dissolved into black nothingness.

A few words reached his ears:

"General, what do we do with these two?"

"Throw them into the Heavenly Prison! Sooner or later we'll deal with those monsters—let them taste what's coming!"

...Chu Feng's group had arrived at the marsh outside the Heavenly Prison.

"Getting here wasn't easy; why do minor soldiers and cultivators keep trying to kill us!" They had already been swallowed by him, yet he still complained.

The Heavenly Prison truly housed myriad demons; for ten thousand li evil qi drowned spiritual qi, and even White God Path's human spirit body showed no response here.

Barren hills were strewn with poison grass and demon insects; sandstorms wiped out all normal life, and an oppressive weight bore down on the mind.

A single misstep meant fatal injury.

White God Path halted ahead, scanning the surroundings, then turned to Ruo Xi. "You can refine pills, can't you? I'll give you a magic tool—the phoenix disk furnace."

It fit perfectly in one's palm, a miniature pill furnace. Its finest feature: three red phoenixes fighting over a bead, heads up and tails entwined beneath the cauldron.

Ruo Xi looked puzzled. "What's this thing for?"

"Put some poison grass inside, focus your intent, and you can refine with it; fight poison with poison. Keep us safe from here on."

White God Path explained solemnly. In his hands the furnace was merely a craft, yet in Ruo Xi's grasp the red phoenixes blazed like fire—utterly bizarre.

Chu Feng stared but could see nothing special; patience was too much trouble for him. He wondered how he'd ever agreed to that nine-thousand-year bet—regret.

"Are pills refined from such evil stuff really safe to take?" Chu Feng asked, doubtful.

"Have you forgotten? She's a goddess; even without divine sense, purifying mere poison is child's play."

White God Path had complete confidence in Ruo Xi, unlike those who treated the tales in books as jokes.

"Then let me see the show." Chu Feng could hardly wait.

Ruo Xi herself could scarcely believe it; her alchemy skill had been high—long ago.

She was still wondering how to pick the poison grass when the idea flashed through her mind.

The grass shot into the furnace on its own, and the carved phoenix eyes sparkled.

White God Path smiled slightly. "As expected of the Holy Maiden—truly formidable." Then he turned to Chu Feng.

He was going to use him as the test subject!

"Hey, you can't be serious!" Chu Feng felt jinxed.

Ruo Xi tugged his ear. "Forgotten who saved you on Sword Sect's mountainside last time?"

True—last time a poison pill had saved his life.

Chu Feng snatched the furnace and poured its contents straight into his mouth—ferocious.

The instant it entered his throat his breathing seized and every drop of blood in his body stopped flowing.

Ruo Xi cried out, "He's not dying, is he?"

"Relax," White God Path said calmly.

A minute later Chu Feng's eyes blinked rapidly; the shape of the poison grass reflected in his pupils and vitality returned to his body.

Well, it really worked. Apart from that brief choking moment, his spiritual qi automatically cleared his bloodways.

Even the divine sense he'd gained earlier twitched slightly—though this was only common poison grass, good for unblocking vessels at most.

Ruo Xi finally relaxed; seeing the effect, she began frantically gathering every poison grass and insect on the hill—longer refinement would yield greater power.

White God Path had halted in the marsh not just to refine pills—the marsh itself was treacherous.

A seal lay upon it; step in without breaking it and you'd be swallowed, food for the demons beneath.

Even if he unleashed Six Spirit Bodies to wipe out the underground fiends, it would waste too much time.

Chu Feng, however, was unconcerned; his left foot was already on the marsh path. "I crossed the Ten Thousand Monster Forest—this dump can't be worse."

Ruo Xi shouted, "Watch out!"

The marsh began to sink rapidly. White God Path shook his head—this kid was a born troublemaker.

The seal had activated; there was no stopping it, only forcing their way through.

Yet in the distance White God Path spotted a group of black-clad men lifting two people at the marsh edge, apparently ready to toss them in.

Ruo Xi's eyes sharpened—the two were Zhu Zhuqing and Ah Yin.

Who would have thought they'd meet again like this?
