Chapter 2 - Hunting Soul Beasts

The next day.

Tang Yin woke up after a night of cultivation.

He opened his hands.

Two balls of green Soul Power appeared in his palms.

"Even though I haven't broken through to level eleven, I feel much stronger than yesterday. Accumulating Soul Power is definitely the right approach."

Most Soul Masters in this world rush to absorb a Soul Ring and break through to the next level once they reach level ten.

This is a very common phenomenon.

However, some powerful and experienced Soul Masters know to accumulate Soul Power, consolidate their realm, and nourish their bodies to make their physique stronger before absorbing a Soul Ring.

This increases the lifespan of the Soul Ring they can withstand.

Take Tang Hao, for example.

His strength stemmed from several factors.

This was one of them.

"Ah Yin, we should go."

At this moment.

A disheveled Tang Hao emerged from the room.

He wore a cloak, concealing himself, and carried a bundle.

He walked over to Tang Yin and tossed the bundle to him.

Tang Yin reached out to catch the object, feigning confusion as he asked, "Father, are we just leaving like this? What about San-di?"

Tang Yin was a bit older than Tang San.

That's why he was used to calling him San-di.

Now that he needed to disguise himself, relying on Tang Hao to help him grow stronger,

he had to make sure Tang Hao couldn't see a single flaw.

As for the title of "Father," it was just a word, wouldn't hurt him. Moreover, as everyone knew, being a father usually didn't end well.

Hearing this, Tang Hao glanced in the direction of Notting Academy and said in a low voice, "Someone will take care of him. Don't worry."

"Now, we'll go hunt your first Soul Ring, and then we'll go see him. After that, we hit the road."

"Yes, Father. I understand."

Tang Yin clasped his hands in a gesture of respect.

He picked up his bundle and put it on, then followed Tang Hao, leaving Holy Soul Village, where he had lived for six years.

On the road.

Although Tang Hao walked ahead, his back to his adopted son Tang Yin,

nothing Tang Yin did escaped his notice.

Tang Hao took a swig of wine, his voice a little hoarse. "Little Yin, aren't you going to ask me what I'm planning, and why I brought you along, instead of Xiao San?"

Tang Yin shook his little head. "My life was saved by you, Father. Whatever you want to do, I'll follow you without hesitation."

"Just like I know you've been training me these past few days, Father. It's definitely for my own good, to make me stronger in the future."

"You wouldn't hurt me, would you, Father?"

Tang Hao's body stiffened when he heard his adopted son, Tang Yin, ask, "You wouldn't hurt me, would you?"

He thought of his adopted son, who had been so sensible since childhood.

And then he thought of the cruel "training" he had put his adopted son through these past few days.

He said coldly, "Follow me."

He had no room for softness now.

To revive Ah Yin, he could become a villain.

Tang Yin heard this.

Looking at Tang Hao in front of him, he sneered inwardly.

There would be a day when he would make his adoptive father understand.

A true man, born between heaven and earth, how could he be suppressed for long?

Who would use whom was still uncertain.

Moreover, with the Green Light System, a mere Tang Hao would only become a plaything for him. He was determined to get his adoptive mother, Ah Yin, and even Jesus couldn't stop him.

Then he saw Tang Hao's figure quickly disappear before him.

He lifted his legs and mustered all his strength to run forward.

He was only six years old, so his body wasn't very tall.

Fortunately, he had been subjected to grueling training these past few days, and his stamina had improved considerably.

However, after running behind Tang Hao for an hour, he was already panting heavily.

And if it weren't for the nourishment of Soul Power, he wouldn't have been able to run that far at all.

But Tang Hao, who was ahead, clearly had no intention of stopping.

He could only grit his teeth and persevere, continuing to follow behind Tang Hao.

No matter how tired he was, he could only clench his teeth.

Because he knew.

Once he stopped, he wouldn't escape another "harsh training" session from Tang Hao.

That's how he'd spent these past few days.

Every day, it was either running around Holy Soul Village with stones on his back, or Tang Hao throwing him into places where Soul Beasts roamed to fight them. He'd almost been killed by Soul Beasts several times.

He was grateful to Tang Hao.

Because this kind of brutal training could make him stronger.

But now...

He didn't have a shred of affection left for his foster father, Tang Hao.

He would not hesitate to act when the opportunity arose in the future.

Kill him.

By the time dusk arrived.

Tang Yin found himself following Tang Hao into a forest.

Tang Hao stood in front.

Seeing his adopted son, Tang Yin, panting as he caught up, he walked forward and said:

"This is a Soul Beast forest, with many Hundred-Year Soul Beasts. Even Thousand-Year Soul Beasts can be found deep within."

"I want you to kill a Soul Beast here that is at least a hundred years old."

"If you can't meet my requirements, then fend for yourself in there."

"Also, I'll be watching you from the shadows. I'll only help you if you encounter a Soul Beast of a hundred years or more. You're on your own for everything else."

"Here's your weapon."

With that, Tang Hao tossed a dagger to his adopted son, Tang Yin.

Tang Yin caught the dagger. It looked reasonably sharp. Without hesitation, he clasped his hands in a gesture of respect and said, "Rest assured, Father. This son will not disappoint you."

"Mmm." Tang Hao nodded in satisfaction.

He knew his adopted son's personality well.

Tang Yin always acted decisively, never dawdling or wasting words.

"Survive."

Tang Hao patted Tang Yin on the shoulder.

Leaving behind this sentence with a hint of concern, he disappeared before Tang Yin's eyes.

Seeing Tang Hao leave.

Tang Yin knew clearly that the words Tang Hao had just spoken were essentially useless.

He was now Tang Hao's only hope for reviving Ah Yin.

Tang Hao wouldn't let anything happen to him.

However, Tang Yin didn't doubt that Tang Hao was secretly watching him.

Now that he was in this wild Soul Beast forest, he could take advantage of Tang Hao's protection to desperately improve himself and become stronger.

He calmed his mind and focused.

Tang Yin didn't rush in blindly at this moment.

He looked around and, seeing many Blue Silver Grass plants nearby, summoned his Green Light Martial Soul and released the growth-inducing green light onto the Blue Silver Grass.

Under the effect of the growth-inducing green light,

this thumb-sized Blue Silver Grass quickly grew to the thickness of an arm.

And this Blue Silver Grass already had a ten-year cultivation.

This was the ability of the Green Light Martial Soul.

Then, he continuously cultivated several Blue Silver Grass before stopping.

These Blue Silver Grass, after his cultivation, could be controlled by him and could also become his eyes for his use.

He was only six years old.

It would be difficult to kill a Hundred-Year Soul Beast.

It was even as difficult as climbing to the heavens.

If he were an ordinary six-year-old child, even a Ten-Year Soul Beast could tear him apart.

But he didn't give up.

Opportunities were found, and even more so, fought for.

Moreover, after these days of brutal training by Tang Hao, he had a new understanding of his own strength.

And he had also killed quite a few Soul Beasts.

He was confident.

Next.

He began to prepare some traps in the forest for hunting Soul Beasts, and to cultivate some poisonous plants and vines, etc., to become ten-year Soul Beasts to serve as his assistants.

After finishing all this.

He gripped the dagger tightly and officially entered the forest.

Pshhh.

Not long after he left, Tang Yin encountered several weak Soul Beasts. He held his dagger, leaping behind a Soul Beast. Before the weak creature could react, he swiftly and cleanly stabbed it in the neck, killing it.

Then, he dragged the dead Soul Beast to the place where he had set up the trap.

He sprinkled the Soul Beast's blood around the area, and soaked the corpse in the liquid from the poisonous vines. This was to attract other Soul Beasts.

To be safe, he also found many poisonous vines nearby. He used his Green Light Martial Soul to control and accelerate their growth, turning them into a trap for ten-year Soul Beasts.

After finishing everything, he quickly concealed himself and waited.

Awoo!

Not long after,

Howls echoed from the hillside not far away.

Hidden in the bushes, Tang Yin relied on the Blue Silver Grass he had previously cultivated, along with some vines, to clearly sense seven wolves gathering on the hillside a few dozen meters away from him.

These wolves were all Soul Beasts of the ten-year level.

They were clearly attracted by the scent of blood.

If they were just one or two acting alone, he was confident he could quickly kill them, without even getting injured.

But it was difficult with seven or eight.

And there was also a leader.

Based on its size, the depth of its fur color, and the aura it emitted, it was known to be a Hundred-Year Soul Beast.

The Soul Skills of a Hundred-Year Soul Beast were a great threat to a six-year-old child, enough to kill him in one blow.

But he wasn't afraid at all.

When he saw the wolves arrive in front of the Soul Beast's corpse, he concealed his aura and body, slowly approaching the few wolves that were eating.

At this moment.

Tang Hao, who was hiding in the shadows and observing Tang Yin, frowned when he saw that his adopted son actually wanted to fight seven wolves alone.

The Soul Beasts he had caught earlier were only twenty or thirty years old, and Tang Yin could easily kill them with his skills and Soul Power.

But a Hundred-Year Soul Beast wasn't that simple.

Just as Tang Yin thought.

Tang Hao wouldn't let him die.

After all, he was Tang Hao's only hope of reviving Ah Yin.

"Let's see," Tang Hao said, not making a move, and continued to observe.

His goal was to test his adopted son.

At this moment, Tang Yin had gotten within ten meters of the wolf pack.

He was hiding behind a tree, the green light enveloping him, concealing his aura and making him blend in like a blade of grass, undetectable to the wolves' sense of smell.

Then...

He released his Green Light Martial Soul, controlling the poisonous vines to lash out at the pack of wolves.

The wolves, currently tearing into flesh, clearly didn't notice the vines on the ground that were about to attack them.

They were caught off guard.

Crack! Crack!

The poisonous vines had already wrapped around several wolves. The poison released instantly, and coupled with the poisonous flesh they had eaten, they were immediately immobilized.

Tang Yin had dashed out the instant he controlled the poisonous vines to attack the wolves.

Ten meters wasn't a long distance.

Before the wolves could break free of the vines, he was already upon them, channeling his Soul Power into the dagger in his hand, and fiercely stabbing at the wolves trapped by the vines.

Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!!

Clean and decisive insertions and extractions.

Each insertion and extraction brought with it a good amount of liquid.

Flesh and blood flew everywhere.

In a short while, several were killed.

But the Hundred-Year Soul Beast Wolf King had a resistance to the poison; it obviously wasn't so easy to kill.

"Awoo~ Awoo~"

It continuously exhaled hot air from its wolf mouth, its bloodthirsty eyes fixed on Tang Yin. Suddenly, a surge of energy erupted from its body, shattering the vines.

A Hundred-Year Soul Beast.

It was completely incomparable to some Ten-Year Soul Beasts.

Even though the vines were poisonous, the Wolf King's Soul Power resisted them, making it difficult for them to take effect.

After Tang Yin swiftly killed the remaining wolves entangled by the poisonous vines, he saw that the Wolf King was unharmed. He raised his dagger, glaring at it fiercely.

Retreat was impossible.

He could only fight to the death.

"Awoo—"

Suddenly, the Wolf King roared, and then a ball of energy, about the size of a soccer ball, was released from its mouth.

The energy attack came at him fast.

Tang Yin instinctively rolled to the side.

Boom!

A small crater appeared in the ground where he had been standing.

"A Hundred-Year Soul Beast is indeed not comparable to a ten-year one."

Tang Yin realized the difference in strength between himself and the Wolf King.

He was no match for the Wolf King on his own.

But...

"Get up for me."

Just as the Wolf King spat out energy and attacked him.

The remaining poisonous vines around him, under Tang Yin's control, rose up like tentacles and wrapped around the Wolf King's legs.

In that instant.

Tang Yin charged towards the Wolf King without hesitation.

The dagger stabbed down frantically.

Pshhh pshhh.

The Wolf King was already poisoned, and now it was hit with more poison. The poison erupted, causing it to pause for a moment. It was this instant that Tang Yin had already stabbed several holes in its body.

In Tang Yin's actions, the insertion and withdrawal...

The Hundred-Year Soul Beast Wolf King, died.
