Originally, Huo Wei thought he was dead for sure. The only things he couldn't stop worrying about were his parents, who had gone back to the countryside to visit his grandparents, and Chun Mian, who had left the squad with him. Feeling a tickle in his throat, Huo Wei coughed a few times before slowly opening his eyes.
The moment his eyes opened, he found Chun Mian sitting beside him, tilting her head as she looked at him. Her expression was rather placid, but a hint of concern lingered in the depths of her eyes. Huo Wei froze for a moment. After registering what was happening, he suddenly bolted upright and scanned their surroundings.
His first reaction was to wonder how he wasn't dead. It seemed simply impossible. He knew his own condition. Although he hadn't been infected by the zombie virus, the toxicity was so severe that he hadn't expected to survive. He had felt his Crystal Core shattering, and a Superpower User with a shattered Crystal Core simply could not live.
