Lu Yuan chuckled wryly and replied, "You rascal, back from Wa Country already! A triumphant return, I see!"
"Well, of course! It was a total cakewalk for some of us over there. I just happened to be passing through Taiping City," Gu Gaoxu said, holding the phone.
"A shame. I haven't been in Taiping City for the past two years. I'm in the Imperial City now," Lu Yuan said, standing atop the city wall, his fingers toying with a loose piece of an old, green brick.
"Whoa! Brother Lu, not bad at all. You've made your way to the Imperial City," Gu Gaoxu said, a hint of surprise in his voice.
"Brother Lu, I'm sure we'll be seeing each other very soon!" Gu Gaoxu declared confidently.
"Sounds good. I could use someone to drink and shoot the shit with here in the Imperial City."
"Deal. See you around, Brother Lu!" With that, Gu Gaoxu hung up.
Gu Gaoxu set the phone down in the carriage. One of his feet, wrapped in bandages, was propped up high.
