Jessie Sterling pulled a small tin box from the pocket of her dress. "Look." She opened it for Quincy Sterling to see. Inside were a few hard candies.
"What's this?"
Jessie Sterling said smugly, "This is the anti-nausea candy Aunt Fletcher made for me! It's just got stuff like lemon and kumquat in it. She makes them herself. If you pop one in and let it sit at the back of your tongue, you won't feel like throwing up. Want one? They're actually really good, aside from being a little sour."
Jessie Sterling, for her part, didn't find them too sour. She had fed one to Victor Morgan the other day. Victor Morgan would eat anything she gave him; all he had to do was open his mouth. But after eating one of Aunt Fletcher's anti-nausea candies, he almost spat it right back out.
If Jessie Sterling hadn't told him with such a straight face that they were good, he would have suspected he had somehow offended her without realizing it and was now the target of a prank.
