The smile on Mrs. Sterling's face widened at his words.
She had deliberately brought up how difficult her daughter could be, wanting to see Victor Morgan's reaction.
Needless to say, she was more than satisfied with his response.
Mrs. Sterling had been through it herself, so she knew just how difficult pregnancy could be. And didn't she know her own daughter? Jessie had always had a delicate disposition. This baby in her belly was probably making her suffer like she never had before. If Jessie Sterling were to take her temper out on her son-in-law, Mrs. Sterling, as her mother, would naturally have to speak up for her.
But now, it seemed her worries had been unnecessary.
"Good boy," Mrs. Sterling said with a nod. "This must have been hard on you."
Victor Morgan didn't dare take such praise lightly. "It's what I ought to do."
