Ian Quincy was silent. 'Fine, I'll wait.' "Where did you just go?"
"Just taking care of something." Cecilia told Ian about the relationship between Aunt Underwood and Jude Underwood. "Unexpected, right?"
"Yeah."
Cecilia said, "Don't they say that the bond with a paternal aunt's family lasts for generations? Aunt Underwood has been living here for so long, but you've never seen Jude come to visit?"
"It depends on the person," Ian Quincy said. "My mom is a paternal aunt, but she's not close at all with her nephew. Before I got into university, they'd pretty much lost contact. They only recently started seeing each other again. Even the neighbors near my uncle's place don't recognize me."
Cecilia thought about her own situation. Though the circumstances were different, the outcome was much the same.
