Herman Hawthorne continued to gaze at the sky. "Alright, man. I get it. You two talk. Nora and I will head out first."
He slung a big arm around Nora Ainsworth. "We're taking off. You two talk."
Once they were out the main gate, Herman Hawthorne let go.
After they got in the car, he didn't immediately drive off. Instead, he said to Nora Ainsworth, "Catherine is Quentin's ex-girlfriend. She's also the only woman he's ever truly loved."
Nora Ainsworth stared straight ahead. "I could tell."
Herman Hawthorne sighed. "They broke up a few years ago because of a misunderstanding. It wasn't Catherine's fault. Once things are cleared up, they might get back together."
Nora Ainsworth beamed. "That's great news! This means I'll be free! How wonderful!"
Those were her words, but her heart gave a painful lurch.
