Clara Grant was silent. She didn't want to make things difficult for Chase Childs, but she also didn't want to go back.
"How about this, ma'am? If you could just meet with me, it'll be easier for me to report back to the President." After a moment, Chase Childs spoke up again.
Clara hesitated for a moment before agreeing.
She figured Assistant Childs was an honest person who wouldn't try to pull any tricks.
But as it turned out, she was wrong.
When she stood before Chase Childs, she said, "Assistant Childs, you can go back. I'm not going back with you."
As she turned to leave, someone grabbed her arm tightly.
She turned back, looking at Chase Childs in disbelief. Although he seemed a bit nervous, he showed no intention of letting go.
"My apologies, ma'am, but you must come back with me today. The President said he has something important to discuss with you."
Clara scoffed inwardly. 'Something important? What could he possibly have that's so important!'
