Holly Summers was about to answer River Sterling when she saw Chase Childs hold out a hand to her without a word.
She glanced at him reflexively, momentarily confused by the gesture.
Seeing her confused expression, Chase Childs still said nothing. He simply took the bag from her hand, held it himself, then averted his gaze.
Although his actions were a bit abrupt, Holly Summers was touched. 'I never expected that Assistant Childs—who's usually so quiet, who everyone says is as serious and stiff as a block of wood—could have such a thoughtful, gentlemanly side. He even knew to help a woman with her things.'
But she had no time to dwell on it. She immediately turned to River Sterling and began to explain what had happened.
