Though it wasn't his fault, Marcus Jarvis still apologized like a gentleman. "Excuse me, are you all right?"
The words had barely left his lips when he got a clear look at Skylar Hayes's face. He frowned and blurted out, "It's you?"
Skylar Hayes instinctively looked up at him, her eyes dazed and vacant, her gaze unfocused.
Marcus Jarvis looked her up and down, and once he was sure she was unharmed, he turned his attention to the items scattered on the ground. His brow furrowed even deeper. 'Someone so mentally unstable is out buying groceries? Her children are far too irresponsible, aren't they?'
With that thought, he bent down, picked up the items one by one, and put them back into the bag, which he then held himself.
He figured that Skylar Hayes wouldn't understand him even if he said anything, so he decided not to speak at all. He simply took her by the arm and started to lead her toward his car.
