"What? I'm already at school for class." Clara smiled and pouted. "Why didn't you wake me up when you left? You almost made me late."
"I saw you sleeping so soundly, I couldn't bear to wake you. Besides, so what if you were late? You're the great First Young Mistress Quinn. What's the school going to do to you?" Seth's voice was light and nonchalant.
"Aren't you known for being strict with your subordinates? When did you become so laid-back?"
"You're not my subordinate. You're my wife. Wives are meant to be spoiled, not held to strict standards."
Clara scoffed, but she felt warm and fuzzy inside. Then she remembered she hadn't gone to the main house for breakfast and asked nervously, "Oh, right. I didn't have breakfast with Mom and Dad today. They... weren't mad, were they?"
"No, they were actually pretty happy about it."
