Joanna Jacobs already had her luggage packed. It was clear her mind was set on leaving. Besides, the elders had considered that Sylvia Vaughn was now grown up, and Joanna had her own life to live. It was indeed a bit inconvenient for two adult women to share a room.
At first, it had been a whim of Yvonne Vaughn's to have Joanna Jacobs live with them at the Vaughn family home, thinking it would be convenient for them to look after each other. Now, it seemed they might have been putting Joanna in a difficult position.
So, no one said anything more.
After breakfast, it was time for Joanna Jacobs to leave.
Sylvia Vaughn was still sitting at the dining table when her aunt gave her a gentle nudge. "What's with you today, child? Hurry up and see Joanna off."
Sylvia Vaughn hesitated at the table for a moment before finally getting up to walk Joanna Jacobs to the door.
