Hector Vaughn's father paced in circles, clutching his eye. The police officers, who had been mediating the scuffle, decided things had gone on long enough. Any longer and someone would be seriously injured, so they finally pulled Yvonne's hysterical family members away.
"Stop fighting! This is a police station. None of you want to leave, is that it?" the short police officer yelled at Yvonne's family.
Yvonne's mother, her fury still unabated, tried to lunge forward again but was held back by her husband, who had already composed himself. In truth, from the moment he had rushed over to pummel Hector Vaughn, he had noticed something. The officers surrounding them, seemingly trying to break up the fight, weren't actually using their full strength. 'Otherwise,' he thought, 'for trained professionals like them, wouldn't it have been a piece of cake to pull a few of us apart?'
