The next second, she was completely stunned.
'Where am I?'
Her mind was racing. Last night... she seemed to have gotten drunk.
Laura Lowell bit her lip, her heart leaping into her throat. If her memory wasn't a complete mess...
...she seemed to recall meeting a very, very handsome guy yesterday.
Ugh… 'I didn't just give away my first time in a drunken haze, did I?'
Laura Lowell swallowed hard and took a deep breath with her eyes shut.
Carefully, she lifted the blanket.
...'It's over, it's over. Just as I thought...'
Her gaze fell upon the clothes scattered across the floor. Laura Lowell suddenly felt that life was meaningless and wished she could just die of embarrassment.
"Laura, oh, Laura," she muttered to herself. "You just had to push your luck. Look what you've done now. Let's see if you ever dare to drink again."
Wrapping the blanket around herself, Laura Lowell got out of bed, picked up her clothes from the floor, got dressed, and then went to the bathroom.
After a quick wash-up, Laura Lowell looked in the mirror at her own smooth, mark-free skin. As if suddenly remembering something, she ran barefoot like the wind back to the side of the bed.
She searched frantically, turning things over and over as if looking for something, muttering in confusion, "That's impossible. Isn't there supposed to be blood the first time?"
After searching for a long time, she still couldn't find that tell-tale spot of red.
Laura Lowell stared blankly for a few seconds, lost in thought. Then, she reached out to straighten the blankets on the bed, bent down to pick up her high heels from the floor, and pushed the door open to leave.
Just as she came out carrying her shoes, Aiden Shaw happened to be walking out of the kitchen with breakfast.
The man wore a pair of black dress pants with a white shirt casually tucked in. The top two buttons of his collar were undone, revealing an elegant collarbone. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, and his thick, short hair was perfectly styled. Paired with his refined features, he was the very picture of a god-like man.
"You're awake."
The man's magnetic voice held a trace of husky sexiness, his sharp, handsome features radiating a calm and collected air.
'Ugh, he really is a masterpiece. No wonder I... last night...'
'But no matter how handsome this guy is, a girl shouldn't just sleep with a stranger like that.'
'A one-night stand is even worse.'
Laura Lowell lowered her head, her face flushing slightly, and let out an extremely unnatural "Mm-hmm."
"Want some breakfast?"
Aiden Shaw placed the fried egg and milk he was holding onto the dining table. His voice was casual, unlike the awkwardness radiating from Laura Lowell.
Laura Lowell kept her head down the entire time. How could she dare to meet this guy's eyes? The mere thought was mortifying.
"Um... last night... did... did we..." Laura Lowell couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence.
"What?"
Aiden Shaw sat down at the table, perfectly composed. His dark brows arched slightly as he watched the girl with a faint, amused smile.
Laura Lowell nervously bit her lower lip and took a deep breath. "Did we... sleep together?"
"You don't remember?"
Aiden Shaw draped one arm over the back of his chair, the smile at the corner of his mouth deepening.
He didn't know what was wrong with him, but seeing this girl's nervous state made him want to tease her for some reason.
'What is with this guy?'
'Did we or did we not sleep together?!'
'Would it kill him to just give a straight answer?'
Just as Laura Lowell was at a loss for what to say, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Aiden Shaw got up, walked to the entrance, and opened the door. "Mom, what are you doing here?"
"Here to see my daughter-in-law, of course! And I brought you two some nourishing soup. Move it, move it, don't block my way."
