The middle-aged beastman frowned and shook his head. "Just like you, we dug them out of a pile of Fierce Beast corpses. They were still breathing…"
He sighed, as if trying to suppress his grief. "Their injuries aren't as severe as yours, but they still haven't woken up."
Yuan Lang tried to move his arms but couldn't summon any strength. His dark, somber eyes turned to the middle-aged beastman. "Give the herb to them."
The middle-aged beastman's lips moved, but he only sighed. He stood up and pushed the two halves of the herb into their mouths.
"May the Beast God protect them."
The forest gradually fell silent. Aside from a few beastmen on patrol, the rest had all shifted into their beast forms, huddling together as they slept.
Only Yuan Lang remained awake. He gazed up through the dense canopy at the small patch of visible sky. 'I wonder how Teng Qian and Teng Kun are doing?'
