"I don't hold anything against her, but she might think I do. After all, I'm more outstanding than she is. Girls tend to be a little narrow-minded, so I can understand why she'd be jealous of me," Vera Xavier replied.
Isaac Shawcross's lip twitched when he heard her. "You're a girl yourself. Are you saying you're narrow-minded too?"
"Of course not. I'm not your average girl!" Vera said with a smile. "That's why I'm so broad-minded."
Isaac Shawcross was speechless. 'She's playing word games with me!'
He, a master of literature, never imagined he'd one day be bested by a play on words.
He glared at her. "I've never met a girl as cheeky as you."
"Thank you!" Vera said with a smile.
"I'm insulting you. Why are you thanking me?" Isaac couldn't help but ask.
Vera beamed. "Because everyone has always told me that mischievous kids are the smart ones. So, Mr. Shawcross, you were praising my intelligence. And when someone compliments you, it's only right to say thank you."
