Chen Beiguo and Chen Ruoyu arrived at the commune. One headed to the administrative office, while the other went to the school.
Unbeknownst to Chen Beiguo, right after he left, the village chief had visited his home, intending to go with him to the commune to inquire about the situation. However, the brigade captain's wife told him that Chen Beiguo had already left. The village chief fell silent for a moment before returning home to wait for news. He was getting old, and he simply couldn't match the speed of the young folks anymore.
Meanwhile, upon arriving at the commune office, Chen Beiguo sought out an acquaintance to ask about Gu Jiaojiao and Leng Yuan's situation.
The man hemmed and hawed, brushing him off. "I don't know anything about this, so stop asking. No one is going to tell you anything. Just go back and wait for news."
