The week before the Mid-Autumn Festival, it was time to set up stalls and sell mooncakes. Wu Shufen, worried Lin Lan wouldn't be able to manage, came to the pastry shop first thing in the morning.
Seeing her, Lin Lan said happily, "Mom's the best."
Wu Shufen gave her a look. "If I wasn't worried about the baby in your belly, I couldn't be bothered to look after you."
Aunt Yang laughed. "Sister Wu, if I had a daughter as capable as yours, I'd be smiling in my sleep."
Wu Shufen was pleased and replied politely, "Thank you all for looking after my Little Lan."
"Sister Wu, you're being too modest. Little Lin doesn't need us to look after her; it's more like she looks after us! Not only is the work here easy, but the food is great, and she's so kind to everyone."
Seeing the three of them chatting away, Lin Lan turned and went back to the workshop in the rear courtyard.
