Eleanor Bishop shuddered violently at Owen Miller's words.
She didn't know if she was shuddering from the pain or from the fear that Archie Lockwood would misunderstand.
Upon hearing Owen Miller, a look of grim confirmation crossed Archie Lockwood's face.
And yet, as if needing to hear it for himself, he looked down at the woman on the floor. "Is what he said true?"
"No! I'm not with him. I only just met him today. He's... he's a blind date my mom set me up with." Eleanor Bishop hadn't expected Archie Lockwood to speak to her at all, and she shook her head, sobbing out her reply.
The sneer on Archie Lockwood's lips deepened. "Heh, you just met today?" 'Met for the first time and she ends up beaten like this?'
And yet, for some reason, hearing that she wasn't this man's girlfriend made him breathe a secret sigh of relief.
'Why?' he wondered.
'Maybe it's just because I don't want my daughter's biological mother to embarrass me…'
