"What do you mean I have to keep her company just because she's here? I have nothing to do with her now!"
Her eyes were filled with suspicion. He tugged at his tie in frustration.
"You don't believe me? If I wanted to be with her, I would have gotten back with her three years ago. Why would I wait until now?"
She gave him a look that said, 'Why should I believe you?' He glared at her, his handsome brows knitting into a tight line. After pacing a circle with his hands in his pockets, he spun around and suddenly exploded with anger.
"Naomi Shaw, do you think you're completely blameless for how things have turned out between us?"
She froze, and he continued to shout, losing control.
"You'd rather listen to Juliet Jennings's one-sided story than believe me! You're always trying to guess what I'm thinking, always assuming you know everything! You wouldn't listen to my explanation three years ago, and you still won't listen now!"
