Near the mountaintop, the moonlight was bright and clear, and all was quiet. A few owls perched upside down in a large pagoda tree, swooping back and forth, lending the villa ahead the air of an ancient temple.
When the car came to a stop, Morgan Sinclair glanced at the pitch-black building and frowned. He turned to the driver. "Are you sure Wayne Lee's family lives in this kind of hellhole?"
"From what I've gathered, sir, when the financial audit implicated several section chiefs, Wayne Lee had already secretly transferred a portion of his assets to his wife. There's no record of his wife and child leaving the country, so they must still be hiding somewhere in China. I investigated this location; they are definitely living here."
"Fine." Morgan Sinclair waved his hand dismissively. He impatiently pulled a pair of sunglasses from his pocket and put them on, but the world looked even more ghastly through the dark lenses. He tossed them onto the seat and got out of the car.
