"The nearby police station, or…" Yuri Sinclair glanced around. "We're close to the Platinum Palace. Let's go there."
"Okay," Ashley Bowen answered. "Should we switch seats?"
"No time. We'll have to manage. You be my legs." His breath came in ragged gasps.
'You be my legs—'
That phrase sounded so familiar, like she'd heard it somewhere before.
A faint image flickered through her mind: a man in a wheelchair. But it vanished as quickly as it appeared.
RUMBLE RUMBLE—
Just as the car turned into an alley, a deafening roar suddenly filled the air.
Ashley Bowen looked up to see a plane flying low overhead, and her brow furrowed.
She gripped Yuri's hand. "Yuri, we can't go to the Platinum Palace."
"Why?" Blood was streaming from Yuri's leg. His lips were pale, but he was fighting to stay conscious and keep driving.
