Jasmine Osborne stumbled back a couple of steps, her back hitting the sink counter. She flinched in pain, hunching over to brace herself against it.
Ryan Osborne quickly reached out a hand to steady her; he hadn't meant to push her.
"Jasmine, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Brother." Jasmine looked at the hand holding hers. It was as warm as ever, but when she thought about how the person that hand truly longed to caress was Jenna Irving, her heart ached, and she couldn't help but cry out.
Her body slowly sank, and she collapsed onto the wet floor, burying her head in her hands as she sobbed. "You're not my real brother! We're not related by blood. I'm just some girl the Osborne family adopted."
"But we're still legally brother and sister. We can't be together; people would ridicule us. It's okay, Jasmine. You're just confused. You're still young, what do you know about love?" Ryan Osborne's tone softened, becoming gentle, just as it always was when he spoke to Jasmine Osborne.
