"Ah, I'm sorry, Young Master Quincy, I'm so sorry!" Cecily Taylor apologized again and again, her head bowed low. She clutched tightly at Aiden Howkins's clothes, refusing to look up.
Aiden Howkins froze in place, embarrassed. He kindly reminded her, "Miss Taylor, I'm not Young Master Quincy."
Cecily Taylor's body went stiff. She was so mortified she wished the ground would swallow her whole. She scrambled to stand up straight and continued to apologize, "I'm sorry, Adjutant Hawkins, I didn't mean to!"
With that, she turned and bolted.
Aiden Howkins watched her flee in disarray, then brushed off the front of his shirt. Frowning, he muttered, "Is her head made of iron or something? She nearly broke my ribs."
Adrian Quincy glanced at him but said nothing, calmly walking toward the stage.
