The moment the call ended, silence settled heavily inside the apartment.
I slowly lowered the phone from my ear while my thoughts struggled to keep up with Sophia's words. Across from me, Liora stared at me expectantly from the couch, her legs tucked beneath her while the muted television continued flashing endless entertainment headlines in the background.
Halcyon.
Veridian.
Celine.
Evelyn Hart.
Every channel seemed determined to repeat those names until the entire country memorized them.
The internet had transformed into a battlefield overnight, and somehow, I had become one of the people standing at the center of it.
"What did she say?" Liora finally asked after several seconds of unbearable silence.
I leaned back slowly against the couch and released a tired breath.
"She said Alexandra wants to move faster than originally planned."
Liora blinked twice.
"That's all?"
