Ironcliff lay at the western edge of the Outer Highlands, cradled between jagged stone cliffs, its iron-grey walls weathered by decades of wind and dust. Today, the Ironcliff town was alive with ceremony. Crimson banners fluttered beneath the clear sky as guests from across Ironcliff arrived one after another. This was no ordinary wedding — it was the union between the Fang Clan situated at Ironcliff and the rising Sun Clan of Cloudrest Town.
The groom stood calmly at the centre of the courtyard. Fang Zhengyuan, a man of steady temperament and measured authority. Before him stood his bride, Sun Lanyue, dignified and composed.
Fragrant wine flowed freely, rich and warming, while roasted beast meat crackled with spice; dancers spun gracefully, silk sleeves fluttering, laughter and music weaving joy through the glowing courtyard night.
Fang Zhengyuan, a middle-aged man of 40 years old with faint lines at the corners of his eyes, his presence calm yet steady. He belonged to the third lineage of the Fang Clan. His cultivation had long stabilised at the peak of the middle stage of Qi Condensation, through stalwart persistence. He had already taken two wives, Fang Yulan(37), a 4 Qi Condensation and Mei Ruyan(28), a mortal. Fang Zhengyuan had children from his earlier marriages as well. From his first wife, Fang Yulan, he had one son, Fang Chen. Fang Chen was already eighteen ,While From his second wife, Mei Ruyan, he had two children. The elder was Fang Ming, 12 years old, lively and curious. The younger was Fang Lianxi, a quiet girl of seven , often clinging to her mother's side.
Across the courtyard stood Sun Lanyue(18), young woman barely reaching his shoulder, poised gracefully beside her parents, the esteemed heads of the Sun Clan's third branch. Her cultivation rested at the mid-stage of Qi Condensation, and her aura was calm, refined, and controlled — a testament to careful guidance, disciplined training, and the abundant resources provided by her family.
The two families faced each other across the ceremonial platform, ancestors and elders observing in quiet authority. The air was filled with expectation. A deep, ceremonial bell tolled, signalling the start of the final rites. Fang Zhengyuan and Sun Lanyue bowed in unison toward each other, then toward their parents and ancestors, their movements precise and dignified. The officiating elder recited the formal vows, each word echoing through the courtyard and over the gathered guests.
When the final bow was made, the two families joined hands in symbolic unity, and crimson ribbons were tied together to signify the bond. A cheer rose from the crowd, and drums and flutes began to play, filling Ironcliff Town with music and laughter.
Servants brought forth trays of fragrant Crimson wine and roasted Boar meat, the aroma mingling with the scent of fresh flowers adorning the platform. Dancers twirled gracefully, silk sleeves fluttering, as cultivators and townsfolk alike joined in the celebration. The ceremony, once solemn and tense, had transformed into a lively festival honouring both families' alliance. As the ceremonial music swelled, the gathered representatives of each clan stepped forward in turn to present their wedding gifts, a gesture of respect and acknowledgment.
From the Fang Clan, Elder Mu Rong, a stalwart cultivator of the main lineage, approached first. He carried a carved wooden chest containing finely ground Spirit Jade Powder, used in refining pills and enhancing cultivation tools.
From the Sun Clan, Master Sun Qingshu, a seasoned cultivator of their third branch, presented a polished Crimson Phoenix Vase, infused with spiritual inscriptions designed to amplify spiritual qi. Sun Lanyue accepted it gracefully, nodding to her family.
From the Zhao Clan, Patriarch Zhao Heng, a shrewd and meticulous man, brought a collection of Rare Spirit Herbs, harvested from hidden highland valleys, their fragrance filling the courtyard.
From the He Clan, Elder He Mingze, quiet but commanding, offered a set of Celestial Ink Stones, each imbued with subtle formation arrays, a tool for careful planning and record-keeping.
From the Lu Clan, Matriarch Lu Yuhua, serene and composed, carried a Jade Talisman Pendant, said to bring harmony and protection to the newly formed family bond.
From the Qiao Clan, Matriarch Qiao Lanying, an imposing and dignified figure, stepped forward. She carried a Thunderstrike Bell, a small but exquisitely crafted artifact resonating with lightning qi, symbolizing vigilance, authority, and the clan's refined strength.
With Matriarch Qiao Lanying's gift acknowledged, the formal exchange concluded. A murmur of approval swept through the courtyard as the elders signaled that the ceremony had reached its completion. Fang Zhengyuan and Sun Lanyue bowed deeply once more to their ancestors, then to each other, sealing the union with quiet dignity.
As night deepened and the last notes of music faded, the wedding feast gradually came to an end. Guests, still chatting and laughing softly, began to take their leave. Servants helped carry gifts and personal belongings, while the elders offered parting bows and polite words of gratitude.
Ancestor Fang Shitian and the clan elders stood at the gates of the Fang Manor, seeing off the visitors. Lanterns swayed gently in the evening breeze, casting long shadows over the courtyard and the cliffs beyond.
One by one, the visiting clan members departed: Sun Clan representatives returned to their estates, Matriarch Qiao Lanying and her attendants retraced their steps toward Thunderbreak Expanse, and Zhao Heng and Lu Yuhua moved off toward their own lands, each carriage winding carefully along the rugged highland roads.
The sounds of the city slowly returned to normal — distant shouts from late-night merchants, the soft clatter of carts over stone streets, and the occasional call of a night bird. Ironcliff Town, once filled with music and celebration, now exhaled quietly, as if the walls themselves were settling after the day's excitement.
Within the manor, the Fang family members lingered, tidying the courtyard and speaking in low voices about the day's events.
