Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 --Too Much Bullying

"What about Spirit Hall?" Ning Fengzhi asked. "Are we making no preparations at all?"

He glanced toward Gu Rong and Dugu Bo before continuing, "What is the relationship like between Golden Crocodile, Gui Mei, and Yue Guan?"

"There seems to be friction," Gu Rong replied after a moment's thought. "Golden Crocodile clearly trusts Dugu Bo and me more."

This puzzled Gu Rong as well. All three were members of Spirit Hall, yet their relationship was anything but harmonious.

"It seems the rumors are true," Ning Fengzhi said, nodding slowly.

Seeing their confusion, he explained in detail. "Golden Crocodile belongs to the Offering Hall. Gui Mei and Yue Guan, on the other hand, serve under the Elder Palace, which is directly controlled by Bibi Dong."

"The two factions rarely interact," he added, "and they almost never execute missions together."

"So Bibi Dong and the former Supreme Pontiff, Qian Daoliu, are at odds?" Chen Xin immediately guessed.

"Qian Daoliu is still alive?" Dugu Bo was startled. That was a Rank 99 peerless Douluo who had once dominated the entire continent.

Chen Xin's expression darkened.

"More than twenty years ago, my father challenged Spirit Hall and died at Qian Daoliu's hands. It was Qian Daoliu who arranged for his remains to be sent back."

Even now, speaking of it left a trace of heaviness in his eyes. He knew his father had initiated the challenge, and that Qian Daoliu had attempted to dissuade him—but the outcome remained unchanged.

"That doesn't add up," Gu Rong frowned. "If Qian Daoliu is still alive, how did Qian Xunji die at Tang Hao's hands? And how did the position of Supreme Pontiff pass to Bibi Dong?"

"There must be inside details we don't know," Ning Fengzhi said calmly. "In terms of strength and prestige, Bibi Dong should indeed fall short of Qian Daoliu."

"So how did she firmly take control?" Dugu Bo asked.

"That likely relates to Qian Xunji's death," Ning Fengzhi speculated. "As far as I know, he was severely injured by Tang Hao and died from those wounds. Before his death, he may have favored his disciple and intended for Bibi Dong to inherit the position."

Dugu Bo narrowed his eyes.

"Then why are you bringing this up now?"

"It's not about what I want to do," Ning Fengzhi replied helplessly. "It's about what they might do."

He continued gravely, "The Spirit Beasts are preparing to establish a medicinal field. Spirit Hall will inevitably follow suit. Compared to Spirit Beasts directly reshaping the environment at great cost, Spirit Hall is more likely to seize existing spiritual lands."

"Are you worried Qian Daoliu will forcibly take the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well?" Dugu Bo's expression hardened.

"If the Offering Hall and Bibi Dong remain separate, then no," Chen Xin said, trusting Qian Daoliu's character. "But if the two sides unite…"

"With Bibi Dong's temperament," Ning Fengzhi finished, "it becomes difficult to predict."

"And we have no means to resist," Gu Rong said quietly.

"That's why Yan Yan must enter the Sacrificial Shop and become an employee," Ning Fengzhi said firmly. "This concerns the future of both our families."

Dugu Bo's eyes turned ruthless.

"If it comes to that, I'll take the Soul Doubling Pill early. Once I reach Rank 97, even Qian Daoliu won't be able to suppress me easily."

While they discussed countermeasures, events were unfolding elsewhere.

Inside the Offering Hall, Golden Crocodile was recounting the mission's details to Qian Daoliu and Qian Renxue.

"A medicinal field…" Qian Renxue frowned, regret flickering in her eyes. She hadn't considered this angle at all.

Sixth-grade energy pearls could be exchanged later, but delaying the medicinal field by even a year meant losing an enormous amount of sacrificial coins.

"Are there suitable spiritual lands near Spirit Hall, Grandpa?" she asked.

"Unlikely," Qian Daoliu replied. "If there were, Yue Guan would've claimed them long ago."

"Then we should learn from the Spirit Beasts," Golden Crocodile said decisively. "We already have light-element pearls. All we need are the corresponding materials."

"It can be built right next to the Offering Hall," he added. "Easy to supervise, and it will accelerate our cultivation."

After hearing the explanation, Qian Daoliu's face darkened.

"You should've said this earlier."

He immediately made a decision.

"Build it. Use light-element spiritual herbs—they're perfectly compatible. Golden Crocodile, handle this personally."

With that, he took out a large number of treasured collections and pushed them forward, clearly unconcerned about any remaining sacrificial coins.

Golden Crocodile accepted the order without hesitation.

Meanwhile, matters were far less smooth for Bibi Dong.

"The medicinal field isn't sufficient?" she asked coldly.

"It can barely sustain second- and third-grade herbs," Yue Guan replied. "Fourth-grade herbs are already strained. Fifth-grade herbs would take thousands of years to mature."

The sixth-grade energy pearls were simply too expensive.

Even if she could afford them, Bibi Dong would prioritize the Martial Soul Heaven Mending Pill. Every day of delay dimmed Yu Xiaogang's future.

"What about Dugu Bo's medicinal field?"

"It's viable," Gui Mei answered. "He's already exchanged for seeds."

"And his current strength?"

"Close to Rank 99 in direct combat," Gui Mei said. "Even Elder Golden Crocodile is no match. His poison can already threaten a Rank 99 Douluo."

Bibi Dong's brows knitted together. She was in the middle of her divine trial and could only exert Rank 98 strength.

Finally, she made her decision.

"Clear the field. Plant third-grade herbs first."

Seeing Yue Guan hesitate, she snapped, "Any more questions?"

Gui Mei subtly kicked him before bowing.

"We'll handle it immediately."

Once they left, Yue Guan's composure shattered.

"That's my medicinal field!" he roared once they returned to Gui Mei's residence.

Gui Mei quickly sealed the surroundings.

"If this leaks out, she'll really kill us."

"I'm a Titled Douluo!" Yue Guan fumed. "Not her servant!"

"Then betray her," Gui Mei said calmly.

Yue Guan froze.

"Go to the Offering Hall," Gui Mei continued evenly. "We're Rank 95. No matter where we go, we shouldn't be treated like expendable tools."

After a long silence, Yue Guan clenched his teeth.

"Alright."

Working for her, paying out of pocket, and watching his medicinal field be seized—he had finally reached his limit.
