Chapter 2 - Prologue

"Live, irish. I trust you more than anyone in this clan."

"Live so that you can honor my name. Don't let anyone take you down."

"Madame?"

I was snapped out of my thoughts when karya called me. She's my assistant.

We're currently here in my office, I looked up at her.

"Are you okay?" She softly asked, I nodded.

I sighed before I continued working on the papers in front of me.

"The meeting will start in 10minutes madame," I nod at her.

The meeting was all about transferring the position of chairman or chairwoman, and the board of directors will choose.

My grandfather was the chairman before but, He died 3 days ago. our family decided to crimate him.

He died because he was killed, not because of his disease.

I know he was killed, but I remained silent. The killer is in one of my relatives.

The killer made everyone believe that my grandfather didn't survive his cancer.

Why did I remain silent? They didn't listen to me.

No one did.

Even since I was a child, they didn't listen.

I got tired, I stopped speaking the things that were 'nonsense' for them.

I hate it, I hate everyone.

"Madame, time is up." I stood up from my swivel chair, and I grabbed my coat.

I put it on and fixed my hair as I walked, I was wearing a black formal attire with Louboutin high heels.

My long blonde hair cascaded down my shoulder and back, I walked out of my office.

Karya was beside me, I remained my poker face expression as I walked.

Every staff member that I'm passing by was their bow, and they will greet me 'goodmorning' and I don't care.

What's good in the morning? Maybe it's good for them, then it's not for me.

Karya opened the conference room door, and I stepped inside.

Then I saw them, my uncles, aunties, cousins. They all glared at me.

See? They look like wild kittens trying to be brave.

Some of my cousins gave me a fake smile. The board of directors is here also, eyeing me up and down as usual.

I sat in the middle, and I crossed my arms as I leaned against the leather chair.

"I, Attorney Shikamoto. Starting this board meeting." Our corporate lawyer started.

He's not just our corporate lawyer, but he's also our grandfather's lawyer.

"Before the late Chairman of this company died, he made his last will of testament," my eyes snapped at the lawyer.

Everyone gasped lightly. They were shocked.

"I-i thought we're gonna have to vote for the next chairperson?" Uncle Alex nervously asked.

"Actually, no, your father left a will of Testament," the attorney said, leaving no room for complaints.

"Shall we start?" He cleared his throat before he took out a paper inside the folder, and he reads it, "Last Will and Testament of Irishkov Romanoff, resident in the City of Moscow, State of Russia. County of Russian Federation. being of sound mind, not acting under duress or undue influence, and fully understanding the nature and extent of all my property and of this disposition there of, do hereby make, publish, and declare this document to be my Last Will and Testament, and hereby revoke any and all other wills and codicils heretofore made by me."

I remained calm despite the nervousness of the people inside the room. Maybe they expected that they have to vote for the position.

But, unexpectedly. My grandfather left a will.

Hmm, he outsmarted them.

The attorney continues, " I further direct that my Personal Representative shall pay out of my estate any and all estate and inheritance taxes payable by reason of my death in respect of all items included in the computation of such taxes, whether passing under this Will or otherwise. Said taxes shall be paid by my Personal Representative as if such taxes were my debts without recovery of any part of such tax payments from anyone who receives any item included in such computation."

I leaned forward, ipinatong ko ang dalawang siko ko sa mahabang table at pinagsalikop ang kamay ko.

I closed my eyes, listening.

Who could it be?

"I nominate and appoint Irish Nadja Romanoff County of Russian Federation State of Russia as Personal Representative of my estate and I request that she be appointed Permanently Personal Representative she applies."

All the people in the room eyed me, looking at me in disbelief.

My eyes automatically opened as I heard my name, my brows furrowed.

Why me?

Then suddenly, I remembered his last words.

"Live irish, I trust you more than anyone in this clan."

Of all the person, he's the only one trusting me.

When everyone was praying for my downfall, he always believed that I could always do it.

"The will of Testament said that Irish Nadja Romanoff will get 100 percent of the property," the lawyer hardly said.

My uncles, aunties, and cousins glared at me.

I remained calm despite their burning glares, i sighed.

"Do you accept this, Ms. Romanoff or should I say... Mrs. Yamamoto?" I stared at the lawyer coldly.

I hate being called Mrs. When I know I'm not the only woman wearing that last name.

At the eyes of the law, I am Mrs. Yamamoto, but I never changed my last name in papers.

I know most of the women when they get married they will change their last names, but not me.

I'd rather have my maiden name rather than that bullshit last name that I'm not the only one who's carrying.

"Don't you dare accept it," my eyes move to my uncle. Uncle Nikolai, I raised my brow at him.

"Are you selfish? You will get a hundred percent means of all of my father's wealth and properties! Don't be so insane about his money!" He shouted.

I side-eye the woman beside Uncle Nikolai as she stood up and crossed her arms, it's my grandmother. "We're not even sure if you can handle the company properly," she hardly said.

"Even if she accepts it, She won't last a day. I bet," Uncle Nikolai smirked.

"Is that so?" I calmly said.

All of the people inside the room are now looking at us.

"Yeah, you always have that cool composure of yours, but in fact, you're useless." Uncle Nikolai insulted.

I stared back at his hazel green eyes, it's full of mockery.

I sighed and stood up, I walked towards his direction.

People inside here watching my movements.

"But you know, pen is better than sword." I calmly said, and I took the pen on the table, not breaking eye contact.

He gasped as I pointed the tip of the pen on his forehead.

"Irish!" My relatives called me, but I remained at my position, not moving the pen away from Uncle Nikolai's forehead.

"What about a deal?" I slightly raised my brow.

"W-what deal?" He tried not to stutter.

I leaned closer to his face, I pulled away the pen on his forehead.

My dark blue and yellow eyes helding his hazel green ones.

A loud thud echoed throughout the room as I pressed the tip of the pen on the table, and I didn't let go of the pen.

It remained standing, and my index finger was on top of it. Balancing it.

"Clean the company mess in 4 days. If you do, I'll give it all to you. Anything you want is all yours." I seriously said his Adam apple bobbed up and down as he gulped.

"And if I didn't?" He nervously asked.

His forehead was sweating even though the room was air-conditioned.

"It will be over for you," the pen fell on the table as I let go of it.

I stood straight and glanced at the lawyer, "I accept it."
