A year had passed since Eve first claimed the throne.
Twelve months of reform, challenge, conspiracy exposure, and integration. Twelve months of building something new, something that actually worked, something that benefited people instead of just concentrating power.
And now, on a quiet evening in late spring, everything felt balanced.
Eve stood on the balcony of her chambers, looking out over the pack territory as the sun set in brilliant shades of orange and purple. The view was beautiful in a way that still sometimes caught her breath...this place that had become home, this pack that had become family, this territory that she was responsible for protecting and leading.
Damian settled beside her, his arm finding her waist.
"Thinking?" he asked.
"About how strange this all feels sometimes," Eve said. "A year ago, I was a human woman with no idea what I was. Now I'm Queen of the Seraphim Court and Luna of a thriving pack. It's surreal."
