Chapter 14 - 14.Super Rage

Although my chances of survival were very low, I had never really thought about what would happen if i actually lost. My depressed mind was just all over the thought of Jake and this bloodmoon that the thought of death didnt even cross my mind.

As if it was a given that i would survive. Well thats when a group of undead humans started attacking me.

I went to defend my self, i heard the sharp, unforgiving, unforgetable click of an unloaded weapon. It turns out, through the whole day of prep i had forgotten the most important thing that goes with owning a gun, actually loading the damn thing.

I had actually entered a fight empty handed. Wow dosent my story end any less interestingly? Usually when things went down like this i would try to find the irony in this kind of situation, but here there was nothing ironic about this kind of fight.

Ever been shook to your core? Yeah for the traumatized me in this situation, that was only the tip of the iceberg. Then i remembered something that if you had a backstory like mine, you would tend to forget later on in life.

My first killings. My young, troubled, fearfull and disturbed self now seeming like a version doomed to be forgotten in the past. The youthfull energy that one woukd expect from a thirteen year old child like me at the time gone. Replaced by a meticulous kind of calm that only comes from a life of suffering.

That child that was only seen in writings about the casualties and the sheer coldbloodedness of the culprit that alegedly dissapeared never to be seen again finally came out again.

The feeling of being brought back in time, like a flashback into the shoes of a young monster started ringing in my mind as if i was physically being withered away into the life i once had. No room for error, this was exactly what was happening.

My blood began boiling, thoughts running through my brain of what sacrifices i made fkr this. The landmines that Jake and i made that costed countless hours of scavanging, the weapons that I ended up making for Jake so that he wasnt unarmed. All of that just to die now. No way, not after all of this.

I dont remember raising my fists. All i remember is seeing flames all around my body. For some reason the flames protected my body like a second skin keeping the undead from getting too close.

"Yeah! Thats what im talking about!" I screamed outloud an unusuall feeling of pride and confidence washing over my body.

I felt my body moving in a sort of rythim that i had never particularly felt before. It moving as if it had a mind of its own.

Its movements were hypnotic. The body moving as it pleased making me more and more confident than i had ever felt before.

One down, two down, three. With extreeme efficiency I began to eradicate the monsters from existence within my proximity, one by one monsters fell all burning due to my body that was wrapped tightly in this inferno, waves of flames burning anything in its path with negligable remorse. The flames growing and using the bodies of the undead creatures like fuel.

Nothing stood in my way, even buildings circumed to my inferno erasing most of them leaving a noticable patch open in the city skyline.

But where i succeeded the gods responded.Spawning a boss creature with a large incentive if i could beat the boss.

[System message: Beat the Apoller boss and gain substancial rewards. Good luck]

"A boss? Well, lets test this fire armour out shall we?" I said outloud my pride escalating with every word. In my mind nothing was good or strong enough to extinguish my flame. Not now atleast.

The appoler boss was large. A titan compared to my human body. Its body looking like a mixture of human and gorrila. It had large arms built like tanks on each side and legs that could destroy almost anything if it wanted to.

The odds seemed grim for most if they were to take it on. But as one of the greatest of their time, I learned that the size of an opponent never really matters.

Then the appoller let off its first attack. It stomped on the ground attempting to take me out in one hit but unfortunately for it it missed.

There it was, my chance to strike. I let my flames increase in temperature making it seem as if i had been using this flame technique for a while and not having just awakened it and let an array of attacks loose in an attempt to overwhelm it in one giant attack.

Well that was foolish. The attacks landed but they only did a quarter if the bosses health showing that it would take more than just one fire attack to win against a large titan like this one.

Chest heaving, my body clearly now burning up at a temperature that would melt steel, I tried thinking back to when Jake was studying about these titan bosses at the merchant when we were preparing to go boss hunting a while back.

"Thats it. All i have to do is to hit it in the nape. The back of the neck." I finally realised. I heard Jake talk about titans when we were about to hunt for more rewards and money a while back.

With one more try to kill this giant thing, I let my body burn up even more turning my flames an azure like shade of blue. I then aimed at my target one more time and fired.

This time I had no choice but to kill it with this hit. If i didnt kill it with this attack, I was finished. All my hard work for nothing.

I watched from my original standing position as the flames burned inching closer and closer until they connected with the nape.

After all the fighting, the sun began to rise again. I exhaled and instantly felt immobilized from there. My flame forms tradeof was temporary paralysis.

In my state of paralysis I saw a box. Glowing just adjacent to the corpse of the appoler boss.
