I stared at my mom angrily, why would she make up that lie?, i tapped my left feet on the floor trying to control my anger, "Hazel think of something to say" my subconscious said, right now my head is blank, l looked at my friends with an apologetic smile, they understood and smiled back at me, i dragged my mom to the kitchen exasperatedly
"mom i promise am not going to stay long" i said pleadingly
"child am worried about your safety" my mom said which made me more angrier
"mom am sixteen years old for crying out loud, can you please let me live my life a little" i said raising my voice a little bit higher
"right now you won't appreciate my work"
"which work mom?, wasting your time monitoring my life,my movement, mom i don't want to do anything that i will regret later"
"child you are being influenced by your peers, you have to listen to me and follow my advice"
i laughed dryly and stared at my mom in disbelief, follow her advice like and an idiot and turn into a moron, i ran my hand through my hair tiredly, am tired of arguing, arguing about the same thing every day
"well mom, am going out with my friends and i don't care if you permit me or not" i said and walked past her
"if you dare open that-"
"mom what will you do, am tired mom, am sick of you telling me what to do" i said and went to meet my friends who were patiently waiting for me
"is everything alright?" Ella asked
"i don't know, let head to the park" i said flatly
my friend exchanged looks of concern but didn't say anything, the four of us walked slowly, the park is kinda far from my house but i don't care i just want to get out from that suffocating house.
"guess what girls?" Enid asked happily breaking the awkward silence
"what?, am bad at guessing" Olivia said
"same goes for me" i said
"okay, fine, Max asked me to be his girlfriend" Enid said thrilled
"OMG! are you for real?' Ella asked halting in her steps
"yeah, it like a dream come true" Enid said
"i know right" Olivia said happily
"why didn't you inform us since so we would go and warn him not to break your heart"Ella said demonstrating with her hand
"well i was waiting for the right moment" Enid said
"and this is not the right moment " i thought. i have been silent all through listening to what they were saying, it hurt, hurt badly, i don't want to admit am a little bit jealous, their lives are so perfect just like the people in romance novels, i was distracted with my thought and wasn't paying attention to what they were saying but Ella asked a question that caught my attention
"tell me how did you feel when he kissed you?" Ella asked
"it was magical, i felt this spark, i have never felt before, i can't explain, it was like i was in heaven"Enid said
"hmmmmmm"Olivia hummed
"what , why are you staring at me like that?"Enid asked
"nothing"Olivia said
"we have finally arrived" Enid said happily and sat down on the bench
"who is hungry?"Ella asked
"am famished, why don't we go buy some junks" Enid said
"Enid, junks aren't healthy" Olivia said with crossed arms
she is just like my mother
"who cares" Enid said with a shrug
"we will be back in a jiffy" Ella said dragging Enid along with her
"those two are something else" Olivia said turning to face me
i just nod and sat on the bench
"Hazel are you alright?" Olivia asked concerned
"i don't know, i want to ask you a question and i want you to be honest with me" i said
"okay go on" she urged me
