Chapter 15 - CHAPTER-14 "THE VIGILANTE OF THE NIGHT"

The bridge was a scene of absolute devastation. The scent of burning rubber and acrid smoke filled the air, mingling with the metallic tang of blood that pooled on the floorboards of the mangled vehicle. Elsa felt a cold wave of terror wash over her as she gazed at Leo. He was slumped against the dashboard, his eyes tightly shut, completely lost to the world. He was not merely asleep; he was in the depths of a profound unconsciousness, oblivious to the orange glow that was beginning to feast upon the front of his car.

Slowly, the fire began to spread across the hood, the flames dancing with a cruel, rhythmic hunger.

Behind the wreckage, the perpetrators of this nightmare made their presence known. Six men, clad in sleek black suits and wielding silenced pistols, stepped out from their vehicles. They were the shadows that had orchestrated the crash, the ones who had forced Leo's car to flip and collide violently with the ancient tree by the river. They stood in a semi-circle, their silhouettes sharp against the backdrop of the night.

Elsa felt a pang of agony in her spectral chest. She reached out, her hands passing through the glass as she tried to stir the man she loved.

"LEO, PLEASE WAKE UP!" she cried, her voice vibrating with a desperate energy.

"FIRE IS SPREADING!"

"PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF!"

But Leo remained still. His breathing was shallow, his face pale beneath the streaks of dark crimson. He was trapped in a silent void where her voice could not reach him.

One of the men in black felt his phone vibrate. He pulled it from his pocket, signaling for silence among his peers. The caller was the man they referred to only as "Boss." The mercenary answered the call, his voice low and professional.

The Boss spoke through the speaker, his voice dripping with malice.

"Is Leo dead?"

The man in black surveyed the crumpled heap of the car, watching the flames rise.

"Looking like there is no possibility of Leo being alive, Boss," he replied.

A harsh, grating sound came from the phone as the Boss scolded the man.

"I want Leo to be dead!" the Boss roared.

"If he is alive, I will be fallen into risk."

"FINISH HIM OFF RIGHT NOW!"

The man in black sighed, a cold indifference in his eyes as he pocketed the phone.

"Kill him," he commanded his team.

Simultaneously, all six men reached into their pockets and drew their firearms. With practiced precision, they triggered the mechanisms and took a point towards the wreckage of Leo's car. They intended to turn the vehicle into a sieve of lead to ensure no spark of life remained.

Elsa emerged from the car, seeing the upcoming danger directed at Leo. As the men pulled their triggers, the sound of gunfire cracked through the night air. Bullets began traveling through the air, heading straight for the passenger compartment.

Enraged, Elsa felt a surge of power she had never known. She focused her will, reaching out to the very fabric of the air around the car. She controlled the movements of the bullets, stripping them of their momentum and making them fall harmlessly to the asphalt like spent pebbles.

The men in black stopped shooting. They felt confused and scared, looking at each other's faces in the dim light. They looked at their weapons and then back at the car, unable to comprehend how six seasoned marksmen could miss a stationary target at point-blank range.

Elsa felt a deep sadness, which was quickly overtaken by a burning rage. She saw these men, who were previously smiling at the thought of their payout, and realized they wanted to kill her love.

Elsa immediately shouted, her voice echoing across the bridge.

"LEO!"

"I WILL NEVER LET ANY BAD HAPPEN TO LEO!"

"I CAN'T ABLE TO SAVE MYSELF!"

"BUT IF ANY ONE WHO WANTED LEO TO DIE, THEY HAVE TO FACE ME!"

"I WILL SAVE MY LOVE BEFORE MY DEATH!"

As her fury peaked, Elsa held her hands into fists. She was utterly enraged, and her eyes, normally a soft and gentle hue, turned a piercing, glowing red.

Suddenly, Elsa felt a change. Her hands, which usually felt like a cool mist, turned into a biting, absolute cold. She looked down and was surprised to see her water-based power was turning to solid ice.

Before the men could react, Elsa unleashed a wave of frost. She froze the men in their tracks, the ice creeping up their legs and encasing their torsos, turning them into living statues.

The men were paralyzed by the sudden drop in temperature. They were scared and found themselves unable to speak, their breath coming out in ragged puffs of steam.

"What is happening here?" one of the men managed to stammer, his jaw trembling with cold.

Elsa felt a primal urge to punish them, an instinct to strike back at the cruelty they had shown. She felt as though she wanted to beat them on their spines with a stick.

Suddenly, a heavy wooden stick came flying through the air from the debris near the river. It floated in front of Elsa, hovering as if held by an invisible hand.

Elsa began beating the men with the stick in the darkness. They could not see her, but they could feel the weight of every strike.

The men began shouting with pain.

"AH!"

"WHO IS THIS?"

"WHO IS BEATING US?"

"COME INFRONT OF US IF YOU HAVE DARE!"

Elsa stopped the assault, pulling the stick back. The men, desperate to see their attacker, managed to fumbled with their pockets and switched on the lights from their phones.

They swung the beams of light around the clearing, but they did not find anyone. Seeing their own guns still in their frozen holsters or dropped on the ground, they felt a false sense of security.

"I think that mysterious attacker ran away after seeing guns with us," one man whispered.

The other man nodded. "Yes, it is true."

"Let's finish the work gave to us."

"If we killed Leo and gave him the painful death, we would get rewarded by it."

"We have to make our boss happy and he will make us rich."

A sick smile spread across their faces at the thought of becoming wealthy.

"If we doesn't kill Leo and if the target had missed this time," one of them commented, "our boss would kill us because he is desperate and wanted to kill Leo."

"Yes, let's finish the work by ourselves by making fire spread all over the car and will record it," the leader suggested.

"We are missing target I guess using the guns."

"Just light the match stick and throw at Leo's car."

"Then we will record everything."

Elsa, who was standing in the shadows and listening to every word, felt her anger reach a boiling point.

One of the men struck a match. The flame flared to life, a small but deadly spark. He threw it towards the gasoline-soaked ground near Leo's car, the men smiling as they anticipated the explosion.

Surprisingly, Elsa reached out and caught the match stick in mid-air. With a slight exert of her will, the fire went out instantly.

The men fell into a state of total shock. They began shouting in terror.

"GHOST!"

"GHOST IS HERE!"

The men in the black suits started shooting their guns wildly into the air, their professional veneer completely shattered by fear.

Elsa grew even angrier. She used her powers to lift all the men into the air. They dangled helplessly, their feet kicking at nothing as they closed their eyes and screamed.

"GHOST!"

"SAVE US!"

Elsa carried the men through the air, moving them away from the wreck and towards the edge of the bridge. She lifted them high above the rushing waters of the river.

They opened their eyes and looked down, realizing they were suspended over a watery grave.

"GHOST!" they shrieked again.

Suddenly, Elsa allowed her form to become partially visible to them. She stood before them, her expression one of deep sorrow and fury, affected by their words and their cold intent to end Leo's life.

They shouted all at once, looking around to see if anyone was there to save them. A dark, cool breeze began to touch their spines, a chill that had nothing to do with the weather.

Realizing they were at her mercy, they started to request Elsa for their lives.

"Please don't kill us!"

"Have mercy on us!"

Elsa looked at them, her voice echoing with a haunting clarity.

"If I didn't come to save Leo, then would you guys show mercy on him?"

The men remained silent, unable to provide an answer.

"Please leave us," one pleaded. "We would give you as much as money as offered by you. Please leave us."

Elsa shook her head slowly.

"There is no cost of money for love and life," she said.

"People can't buy love and life with money and I am the perfect example who lost in a moment of everything."

"My love and my life and also a lot of hopes and dreams being with Leo."

"Maybe I am a soul, even maybe I don't have a heart right now in my soul."

"But this soul always yearned for Leo's love even knowing my dream and love would never get fulfilled."

"I know the value of love and life."

"If I let you go right now, for the sake of money and for being rich, you may kill many people like this."

"I will never forgive people who are already cruel and wanted to kill people mercilessly."

"If you guys have at least shown mercy on Leo, I would definitely made all of you guys let you go."

"All of you guys wanted to kill Leo, who is my love of my life and a good and true selfless man."

"All of you guys are bad people and there is no forgiveness to all of you."

With a final, decisive movement, Elsa dropped them. They fell through the air and plunged into the river. The current was strong, and they were unable to swim in their heavy suits and frozen states.

Elsa turned and went back towards Leo's car.

On the road, one of the men's phones lay abandoned. It had been recording the entire encounter—the invisible beating, the men flying through the air, and their journey to the river. However, Elsa's face was not clearly shown in the video; she appeared only as a blurred, celestial shimmer.

Elsa felt a pang of guilt that she had to be so violent, but she knew she had to save Leo. She looked at the car and saw the fire was spreading more rapidly now.

"No matter what, I will save Leo," she vowed.

"I will never make that prophecy come true."

"I WILL SAVE LEO."

Elsa stood before the burning wreckage and prepared to use her powers to douse the flames. She raised her hands, ready to summon the ice and water she now commanded.

Suddenly, a strong gust of wind swept across the bridge. It did not feel like a natural breeze; it felt sentient. The wind wrapped around Elsa's soul, holding her tightly and pinning her arms to her sides.

It stopped Elsa from using her powers.

"Who is stopping me?" Elsa shouted into the void.

"I have to save Leo!"

The wind did not answer. Instead, it rose high above into the sky, pulling Elsa's soul along with it. She struggled, but the force was absolute. Within seconds, Time got stopped and Elsa's soul was taken away by wind and disappeared into sky.
